i deal with bmw's day in day out and what your saying is totally rite, the evo models are nothing but hassal!! you cant go wrong with 3.0 m3 the difference in power is so tiny you cant hardly notice and just to prove that my pal just told me that his m3 evo on that day was doing slower times than the 3.0's , there is a place that do our dyno tuning and they said a number of times the evos have barely put out 300-310 bhp

i've always fancied an m3. but i've driven 3.0 and 3.2 and my r32 is definately quicker. you can buy turbo kits for m3s though

I did plan on doing this, E36 M3 stock Vs my 329bhp skyline, unfortuantely I went a bit mad and bought the bits for 400bhp so its not going to happen now. with power similar and the weight issue plus turbo vs n/a.

I'd say it would be close either way !

there is a vid on youtube (type m3 vs skyline ) and the m3 just pulls on the skyline . All i know is i had an m3 evo and it felt as quick as my gtst which had about 320 brake up to about 100 then it felt quicker , one thing i did love was that at 70 mph it was about 2500 rpm thing is though it didnt feel alive like a skyline does it just felt like a fast well made car and jayne hated it so it had to go
