How much to supply and fit a HG?

Just a quickie guys,

How much (roughly) should it cost to supply and fit an steel head gasket (Tomei 1.2mm)....?

Also, if the heads comming off to fit the gasket, does it make it an easier job to thro some cams in at the same time?

Thanks

You can do the cams with the head on no probs. As for the HG, are you supplying it yourself then having it fitted? Or paying someone to supply and fit it?

1 hr per side of the car if all is good, then an hour for the head. You then have the danger of needing the head skimming if it isn't flat which can throw more delays and cost at you.

To be fair, I don't believe in ripping the engine apart unless something is wrong. If your going this far, have you considered a full rebuild? Forged pistons etc?

Ek!

Not prepared to go down that route just yet.....didnt realise there was so much work involved in the HG...

The dude at the garage says that the stock gasket would limit the boost i could run, fair enough. But ive raised the subject on here before, and Todd was said he didnt advise his customers to go the HG route....

So im not sure if the guy us trying to get more work out, or if i dont go for the gasket then limit the boost he tunes the car too

Looks like it, I would confirm it with Andy W as he fits these all the time. I'm pretty sure I have the version 1's installed.

What about just fitting cams...that a big job on its own without the HG?

If your not going to run more then 1.2BAR, don't bother changing the HG unless it goes.

As for cams, not the hardest job but you need to know what your doing.
