thinking about it det in 5th could also be caused by the fuel rail depressureising, one of my customers done this with his nitrous kit.....fuelling was fine but in 5th over a long distance the pressure dropped and fuelling was not sufficient

Will fitting fuel pressure reg solve it?

im not saying it is the fuel, just that it might be
to check this you need wideband or at least a fuel pressure guage (see rebuild thread under "seting up and performance")
a fuel pressure regulator would not solve this if this was the case, you would need a better pump or the same pump with correct live (sometimes the pump only sees 10 volts rather than 12 due to age)
the regulator can increase pressure but only because it RESTRICTS flow, more pressure....less fuel from the pump
please note: i know nothing about engines or cars, ignore my comments

TFS could be onto something there , i'm getting the feeling my fuel pump is struggling now and i see from your garage that you also run a GTR pump abd run similar power
400hp is probably getting to the limit on them it might be time for an upgrade

Was it mapped on a dyno or on the road?
You could be using a cell in the ignition map that has not been mapped because the load on the engine on a dyno is different to on the road. It may just need a bit of fine tuning to the ignition map and a degree or two taken out of those cells.

Got it mapped on the dyno a month ago and have been back this morning for a check and this was done on the road, and some of the cells where fine tuned! but on the way back it started to happen again!!

I might just have a look at this water injection lark.
T.F.S, seeing as you know the square route of **** all, what kit would you recommend?

lol
i use an aquamist but the best system i think is a noswizards system as injection rate rises with boost pressure but it needs a pressureised cylinder/bottle and this is normally metal, not great for alcahol
i will PM you with some info as you know im not allowed to post guides on here
the best advice will be from "JohnA" of the aquamist forum, a good friend of mine and also a mentor, speak to him!
precompressor injection is the way forward but im doing mine just before plenium

Yes, please do.
So, pros and cons of before the plenum or before the compressor section? What would they be?
