ISS space walk?

What gets me is they call it a 'space station' and yet it is only 400km up, yes higher than even special aeroplanes, but space? that is pushing the term a little I feel.
For scale the GPS satellites are 42,164 km up..........
The moon is approx 384,400 km away......
The more they call it a space station and make all this fuss the more I doubt the moon landings............ If they were real & that was 45 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!! why the fuss now only 400km up?
Wtf is going on up there? is the Van Allan belt really stopping humans from traveling away from earth?
I think these things are odd, I have no idea what the truth is (it could well be as presented) but as I said to me it seems odd.
Thanks for all the fish.
