plastic printing

Hi all

Just read this thread:https://www.skylineowners.com/forum/s...d.php?t=101785 and I thought Ide post about plastic printing.

I dont know how ppl on here get there moulds done but with companies like shapeways.com you can design it using a 3d modelling program, convert it to their format and upload it. Its then checked and if its printable its printed and shipped to you at least thats how i understand it!

Check out shapeways video:

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/01...deo_shapeways/

its probably a repost but hey, might be inspiring to some!

We've got a 3D plastic printer in our lab here at work (obviously I'm not at work now since I'm here on so.com...! Errr........).

Very handy for making prototypes and moulds with pretty advanced shapes. Having that sort of service commercially available to anyone must be a dream come true for a lot of designers, especially industrial designers.
