Foz on here is, he's running stock bottom end with cams and a gasket I believe being pushed by a Greddy TD06 25G top mount kit.

Yep. 100% factory spec engine stripped and refreshed end of 2012. Running 6Boost manifold, GT3076, Plazmaman @ 1.4bar making 510bhp / 450ft/lbs on a "conservative" map

thats some good power on stock bottom,im still stock bottom with gt3076r and all the trimming and made 450 as injectors maxed out @ 1.2bar ,was warned by my tuner that the ringlands are the weak link at anything over 1.3bar,played it safe so i never have to worry about breaking it again

mgt racing in nuneaton, top guys and incredibly knowledgable, full of great advise and when i was prepping for the tune they went over my workmanship and asked what i was expecting tune and power wise, they told me i didnt need things like fpr and some other bits, they could have told me i did and charged me etc and i wouldnt have known the wiser but they saved me money instead if i decide to go a stage further then i will only use them

To be honest I knew you were going to say MGT, it must be a very conservative map for a GTT Neo engine on a GT3076R to only produce that figure, on your stronger rods, crank and pistons you should of been over 500hp. If you install a thicker MLS headgasket 1.5mm or above and increase your boost you would see a huge gain tbh.

Do you have a dyno printout showing boost and a/f:r you could post?

i have a 1.6 mls gasket installed,it is a conservative tune but a safe reliable one,my injectors are really limiting me,400 whp at only 1.2 is good, running 1.4 to 1.6 would see me nearer 450 whp and over 500 @ the fly,to be honest its quick enough for the road and mainly just boosting around making noise etc if i changed the injectors garth would only tune it to 1.3 bar and would make maybe another 25 or 30 bhp and when the time is right i might do it

It all depends on the other parts, injectors and fuel pump etc,my low mount gt3076r ext waste gate is easily good for over 500,unsure if that's fly or wheel HP but on standard pistons even on the neo which has the same rods as the gtr and good standard tops I was warned about the ring lands being pushed over 450 to 500 or over 1.4with my set up,I'm sure different tuners and people will say they can get more blah blah, maybe they can but if I had the choice of a perfect bombproof tune that I can hammer all day and still drive home with the confidence of no smoking from ring damage or a bit more power with a hesitation in my mind that each time I hit the loud pedal it might be the last ,I have seen a gtt running exactly the same setup as me and it pulled 507 @ the fly at 1.6 bar on standard bottom so I know it's possible

With regards to your Blah, Blah comment.....

Did your tuners ever offer to add a thicker composite gasket and some head studs or just MLS and stick below 1.3 bar? I only ask because I ran 1.35 bar with no issue on a stock engine and only addition being a thicker HKS stopper head gasket. I never had ringland failure at all in my ownership and the car was beat on A LOT!

I find it funny that UK tuners even after years of working on these old hat engines are still way beyond fellow tuners in the US/Oz regions. We are too conservative on our tunes by a long shot. The UK tuners prefer to over richen for safety rather then map for optimal conditions.

Your exact tuner for example, built a fully forged RB26 Engine fitted with some garrett upgraded turbo's and within 14k miles it started knocking, despite being serviced by them and RB motorsport... sure coincidence right, but for the price they charged it was A JOKE and should of never happened!

They used to outsource their engine building to another company in Nuneaton, not sure they still operate anymore... but hey ho! MGT didn't always "build" their customers engines.

Another issue I have with UK tuners, if you don't do it in house, stop talking like you do and offering these services as an upsell, when you clearly outsource! I do not doubt your set up meets your requirements and you paid a premium for it, but I guarantee that you could of achieved the same for less than they charged you

MGT had no help in building my engine at all, only check over my workmanship and tune the link g4,i blew my turbo a few years ago and always wanted more power so i saved and sourced parts and info primarily from this forum,i then stripped and checked the engine myself, thankfully the bottom end was fine, none of the turbo vanes had come back through the inlet,it only has 68k with 40k being kilometers prior to import,so all bearings were fine and bores etc,i stripped the head and sent it off for a skim,i cleaned and built the head up myself, fitted 1.6 mls gasket and standard bolts, fitted a cleaned and flow tested 2nd hand set of 550 injectors i bought from a tuner down south and fitted a gt3076r full kit i bought from on here, then all the accessories i needed, map sensors etc,MGT fitted nothing and took my word on all installed parts and my work, they even helped me store my car for a few weeks as i was moving house and my storage had changed, they really went above and beyond to help me have an easy and relatively stress free tuning experience, the outcome is a car i love and cherish and am more than happy with the power and tune, the total price i paid was on the bottom end of what id thought id get charged so i was more than happy, you say youd ran 1.35 with just a gasket etc, well thats within the ballpark of what garth said was the safe limits for standard neo pistons so again i say if my injectors were bigger then yes i could go to 1.3 or 1.35 and still be safe
