SO.com Paul Walker memorial Road Trip 2014

I Had a very long chat with Keith today... As everyone knows about the tragic events that happened over the weekend with the Loss of Actor Paul Walker.

It has been decided to make a truly special event by Skylineowners.com as a mark of respect and a fitting tribute to Paul Walker.

Keith has asked me to arrange this amazing event.

We are aiming to accomplish this around June-August time 2014.

With everyone's support and commitment I think we can make this more prominent and bigger than Skyline Parade.

The idea is to circum-navigate the whole of the UK and Ireland in a massive relay using a specially designed baton to be transported through each area.

The route is something that will need to be planned to the last detail......

Initially starting at Lands End up from the Southwest towards South Wales then across to Ireland and around the Emerald Isle back to the Uk through from Wales on the left side of the UK up to Scotland then down towards the Eastern coasts and Southeast... with a view to meeting up at a central point in the UK..... Possibly the NEC in Birmingham with a special meet up and event staged there for Skyline national day.

The idea is also to collect for Paul Walker's charity (They will be contacted officially by SO.com) To send a donation by Skylineowners.com.
Paul Walker's charity is..... Reach Out WorldWide
This is a network of professionals with first responder skills, including doctors, nurses, firefighters, paramedics, construction specialists, heavy equipment operators, and other disaster-survival specialists, who understand that a fast response makes the difference between life and death. These professionals have put their "boots on the ground" domestically and worldwide, to immediately fulfill the unmet need in times of chaos, tragedy, and destruction.
A fitting cause no less..

Ok you get the idea....... Area Reps do you have any thoughts and suggestions on how we can get everyone together? Be it at a certain point to meet up to travel through your various areas and with your members who would like to join in. This being the case the various authorities will have to be contacted to make sure everything is above board and legal...... It's going to be a lot of hard work. The scale I think could be massive........

I am intending to do the whole trip in my R34 The time scale we think could be up to a week/week and half. Keith has also pledged to be with me as we travel round everyone is welcome to do the whole trip.... However even if we could just get guys to come and meet us and maybe convoy through your areas that would be fantastic......

I am setting a time scale of about a month to start thinking about things and the logistics. Once we have a plan in place it'll be full speed ahead.

Keith has suggested that all drivers/owners would be able to get T-shirts with the event name and their own names printed on the shirts.

We are trying to bring in everyone in on this as regards to international attendance.

Keith is going to contact our friends in the American Forums, International Areas, also New Zealand and Australia and let them know what we are intending to do......
The idea is to try and get similar events happening at a global level.... with a huge donation to Paul Walkers Charity ROWW

That's as far as it goes at the moment..... I hope that we can get some interest on this..... This will be a helluva a challenge but I'm looking forward to jumping in again ( I must be mad)

Hope you guys can give us some help and make something very special indeed.

Cheers for your time.....

Well Guys this is a Provisional Route....... We may alter to go to Glasgow instead of as far as Inverness... depends on numbers and logistics....

Here's the Link......
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?vps=...6fabf7c5b9cf83

Page 2 relates to the South East towards London.........

There has been another suggestion for principle routes Motorways etc etc... will add that very soon....

Guys as you can see I've got the map to Fishguard then we'll need to go to Rosslare can anyone suggest a rough circuit drive around to bring us back to Rosslare?

Hi Smurf... thanks for the input.... that would be a good idea normally and would be the logical thing to do.... but we are intending to do the full circuit.... so we would have to go out to you guys from Fishguard to Rosslare then back by the same route to incorporate the North West side of the Country.... Thanks again for the help... and support.

Cheers.......

any more input here folks?

Killer - what about Rosslare straight up to Dub then onto Belshaft and back on the boat?

or Rosslare>>>Kilkenny>>>Dublin>>>Belfast

all motorway, pretty much

In terms of time, technically you could do it all in a day but would be a long old slog

would we break it up over 2 days? how many would come over from the UK?

How many would go from Ireland to UK?

Hi Mate... ok that's an idea... maybe a 2 day visit could be arranged... what about accomodation?? Any ideas? As regard to how many to come over from the UK not sure yet... trying to get routes and thoughts at the moment.... If you guys wanted to follow us back on the boat to the UK that'd be great...

Once we have a route set in stone we can think about dates etc etc..... Could you guys plan summat official? You'll be responsible for leading us around, maybe arrange a stopoff/meeting point for photos and donations.....

As to arranging what about this...All the points where you are stopping to eat we hold a mini meet in advance. Go round with buckets etc then when the convoy shows we transfer funds, and join the convoy for as far as we wish. That way there is a build up to the arrival and make it a bit more spectacular. If we go down this route it will need to be well orchestrated to avoid any disappointment at each stop point for the waiting public. Also if we could get banners put up at each point advertising the event months in advance this might get other enthusiasts attending too.

Would you guys be able to liase with the authorities to make sure all is legal above board? Maybe get press coverage etc etc....

As regard to the trip.. I'm going to try and do the lot... ( I'm mad) I think Keith Hammond will be with me..... There is no pressure on people to do the whole trip... so long as they can do their "Area" as we pass through that's fine...... Those that wish "to go all the way ;) " Can do so......

Hope that answers a few questions

Any other thoughts......... (Other than that I'm a nutter LOL)

Cheers......

Shall you be back in a skyline Mick?

Yea rosslare,Waterford,Dublin (stay there) then up to Belfast the next day or visa versa depends where yer coming from. Could even take the back roads rather than boring motorway all the way.

As for press and authorities I wouldn't have a clue where to start to be honest lol.

Would definitly drive that route in a day but might as well make it two sure
