If it's a 231 bhp standard these things fly after mapping. 2-5 mpg increase I would estimate.

The figures below are just from a tuners site but give you an idea.

I did the same job to a 330d Dpf off and remap (not live mapped) seriously quick for a derv bus!

BMW - 5 SERIES - 530D 231

Original HP: 231 Original Nm: 500
Tuned HP: 261 Tuned Nm: 560
HP Increase: 30 Nm Increase: 60
% Increase: 12% % Increase: 12%

Sweet, it's a 217 up but I know it's only in the ecu that they apply the power changes, that sounds good to me

I have given these bmw some serious thought about buying one myself. I think they are great value for money compaired to the 535d

Worth getting the zf 6hp autobox flushed using wynns flushing machine and adaptions reset. ZF recommend every 75,000 miles.

Original HP: 218 Original Nm: 500
Tuned HP: 248 Tuned Nm: 560
HP Increase: 30 Nm Increase: 60
% Increase: 13% % Increase: 12%

Yes there is a filter but to be honest it's the oil that breaks down, not the filter that blocks.
You really want to try find someone with the wynns flushing machine as it changes the oil as the car is running so that way it changes what's in the torque convertor at the same time.
We have one at work and it really makes a difference. Must get adaption reset too using a diagnostic machine. Resets factory settings and then it adapts to your driving style.

My work is a Land rover specialist and discos and sports have the same autobox. We do loads of them, thing is to get them done before any issues start.

I reckon you'll get to about 250-260bhp and 70lbft+ torque. Maybe more with DPF removal as well. Didnt know Rich did this as Im hoping to buy an e90 330d this week and will be wanting it fettled.

Found this on the web was a good read.

A mate of mine had a 335d remapped and DPF removed at JF Automotive.

It made 360 Bhp & 750 Nm

Obviously a 335d but that torque is scary!
