Thoughts on Chris Evans then?

Chris Evans has signed to host top gear 'in place' of Jezza.

What a crap misleading storyline.
He's not replacing him as such as Hammond and May are not returning.
It's a whole new line up and I personally believe that the whole shows format will completely change.

I don't dislike Evans so for me it will be worth watching the new line ups first couple of shows and see how it goes.
I also can't imagine him hooning sideways and screaming 'MORE POWER' so I think like 5th gear they will employ a few retired pro's.

I really hope Clarkson returns to front a different show. I like and can relate to his character and buffoonish behaviour.

Personally, I think he'll be crap, since he only seems to like Ferrari's. Also, he seems to like cars just to look at, not drive. Anyone remember that old episode of top gear when James May visited him and had to struggle like hell just to get him to let one of his cars out for a run?

Exactly that. Chris Evans is to nice. He will be tippy toeing around to try and please because of the pay check. And I just can't see him making for an entertaining viewing.

No matter what happens I won't be watching it.

After Jeremy and Co's final BBC slot on the 28th I for one will be sticking with repeats on Dave. I loath Evans and always have.

Would it not be better just to pass judgement when he does the first one perhaps?

I think he will do a good job, that format will need to change as I don't think he can copy what the others used to do but if he's allowed to put his spin on the show I do think the show can improve, top gear with Clarkson and co was good but maybe it was getting a little old and needed a revamp anyway..

Still looking forward to the last Clarkson episode thou.

I don't have a problem with the guy and like his breakfast radio. But I don't think he is suited for top gear as it stands. For me Top gear was top gear because of clarkson and his outlandish, opionated, arrogant personality.

Ok we still get see cars that most of us will only dream of owning in a way which we would never be able to otherwise but as said above the show would have to change for it to work with Chris. Change to much which then it wouldn't be top gear.

Chris Evans is too nice. Yeah top gear was clearly staged but clarckson still said what most people were thinking whereas Evans won't. Plus I can't see him in the rainforest in a beat up Range Rover and a chainsaw haha.

I will agree with you but I still hold judgement until he does his very first episode
No one really can replace any of them as the format worked not just here but world wide BUT you will never please everyone

What other motor programs are readily available to watch on terrestrial tv unless you watch through sky Etc
We are supposed to be petrol heads yes but we all cant be pleased with the same thing

I suppose. And I am making assumptions, assumptions which could all be wrong. He might make a better show. There are plenty of people who didn't like Clarkson. Lets just hope he does something on another channel.

For me it's the format I will miss.

Like others I watch fifth gear which is ok but doesn't have the buzz for me that the format of May Hammond & Clarkson as a team did.

I'm not a fan of the BBC anyway so will probably give the new show a miss.

They'll be back on another channel once the dust has settled.

It's not his fault he doesn't have a soul.

If the BBC was run and funded by share holders, not us, they would have never been able to axe the presenter of their biggest earning broadcast. It's that twat from the BBC sat in his office not liking clarkson and as soon as he seen the chance he wanted to show everyone how big his cock was!

Talks way too much and usually about himself cos he loves the sound of his own voice.
Also has a tendency to talk completely irrelevant nonsense when he goes off script.

A big no no including his comment there will definitely be a woman presenting. Why? is she qualified or just eye candy. Or is it because the BBC has to be seen to be impartial....
