Yeah, you can't pick up the fire and ploice now as they are on an encrypted digital signal, was fun when you could though, could also get mobile phone calls, not that i ever did anything like that though

I may be wrong but i think there is a VERY expensive scanner that might be able to decrypt it, but not having the sort of money to get one i've not really looked into it. Also my mistake i don't think fire is digital at all but most stuff is going that way now slowly

I used to have one a while back, and was looking into having one again. They are on ebay from as cheap as 30.

Some police are still on analogue so can still pick them up, but as above most are digital!

Mobile phone calls were cool. Some of the stuff we used to hear was hilarious! Even picked up a bloke ringing a prossie for a "home visit". Me and my mates were pissing ourselves laughing!

I know that some people (mainly in the US, but some in the UK) pickup police, fire, airports etc, and then stream it over the net.

Do a search, and you will find loads of LIVE ones!

You can buy a digital scanner for a serious amount of cash, but mobiles are now encrypted to so no good there i'm affraid. They were funny as fook to listen to though. Me and my mates once heard a guy phoning his lover telling her that at that very moment his wife had found out and was throwing flower pots at him as he left the house, there was lots of crashing them went very quiet, dunno if he hung up and ran or took a flower pot in the head, was funny while it lasted though

My jap stereo that came with my skyline can pick the police up. It has a bandwidth expander fitted. I was trying to tune radio two up and the next thing i'm listening to the satartday night bam patrol in glasgow city center.

"echo two bla bla youth seen heading......."

"oscar four zero swing park on fire youths seen running from the scene"

"romeo two group of youths reported squaring up to another group of youths with scarfs etc etc"

"delta seven, your detained suspect has two ten whiskies on record and has an identifying scar on his left *rse cheek if you want to go that far"

Most of the public cash spent on that amzing new digital radio system is wasted as it dont work right anyways
