Verifying skyline

I'm pretty close to purchasing a 1994 GTST. Seller claims it was one of the few skylines that were fed bond released without compliance work down on it during the time MotoRex was getting shutdown by the government. Anyway to verify the VIN or other means?

Call Coleman Sachs' office at the NHTSA. Their office handled the bond releases for the Motorex cars and subsequently exempted Skylines (like my Nismo that was a Show or Display car) so they maintain a database of all cars that were legally imported. Anybody who's looking at a supposedly bond released car should call their office first. If this car really was a legal Motorex car then they'll have a copy of the bond release letter on file.

A Motorex car would have that sticker but it wouldn't be that hard to fake. It's still safer to call the DOT to verify the authenticity and besides, the DMV will probably ask for the bond release as proof the car is legal regardless of the sticker.
