program spare key

hi everybody,

i have been searching the forum but could not find a definite answer.

i have got an r34 gt-r v-spec from japan with an apexi pfc. i have got only one of two keys that's working. my spare key wouldn't start the engine, red light wouldn't go out, so no fuel injection.

at a local nissan dealer over here in germany they tried several computers to program the key. one of three at least recognized that the car is a skyline r34, but it could not find an ecu. i heard that you need the oem ecu to program a key, that i don't have.

does anybody has a solution? i am afraid my only key breaks...byebye skyline driving.

or is there a way, in the worst case, to take out the nats and how?

thx

jens

My R34 GTT doesn,t have a key like that, it has the buttons to open and close the car but no ign chip inside it. You could always try your spare key in the ignition and then place your chipped key next to it, and turn on the ignition. Then try and start the car. If this works then at least you konow what you can do if that key snaps.

okay, will try that. but even if that works it wouldn't help if the chip breaks inside my primary key. i always try not to put the key besides my cellphone or near any magnetic devices.

i bought the car like that. whenever the pre-owner swapped the ecu to the apexi one he must have done something to program the key. i don't know why the second key is not coded.

i have got two keys with a red chip (nats 1 i guess) and one remote control for the doors. not even nissan can help me, since the car never was sold over here. and i don't know a way whjo and how to contact someone from nissan japan.

i just can't believe that there is no way around NATS (worst case scenario) or a way to reprogram the key...

Question

okay guys, let's put it like that:

any of you guys who have taken out the oem ecu to replace it by a stand alone ecu like the apexi fc, what did you do with your nats 1 keys? did it work right away? was there a reprogramming necessary and how?

if the oem ecu really works together with the nats computer of the car you must have done something.
