Drop the military guys in Germany a PM dude, they will know about it as they know the US and the exact military regulations. Try Mike aka intfreaks or Glenn aka Gman-R33.

Good stuff Mike.

To be honest I donīt think this thread needs to be stickied yet. I am trying to keep the events and meetings on top of things for you guys and having too many stickies results in people not keeping an eye on them anymore. Thatīs why I keep changing them from while to while so the most up to date ones can be seen.

However I will keep an eye on this and other threads regarding importing etc and will get them up as a sticky if I feel they contain enough info and get enough interest.

There is a sticky regarding that topic already in the US section by the way. Just in case anyone is interested.

OK. I have done a lot of research on this subject. Like 3 years worth. I also know there are a lot of people that will argue with me, but here's the answer.

YOU CANT DO IT LEGALY!!

The requirements to get one imported is:

1.) It has to be a R33.
2.) It has to be a GT-R.
3.) It has to go through a RI (registered importer). And there is only ONE that can LEGALY do the work for you.
4.) And it will cost you $35,000 to do it.

Argue all you want. Think what you want. This is the truth. Beleive me, I want mine back in the states and this is what I found out.

I stress the word LEGAL every time I use it. This is because there are a lot of people that have a friend that got theirs in the states. Do the research....these cars are not LEGAL!!

Sorry.

If you want more information please let me know.

I figure it just easier to tell people that they cant do it. But like I said I did almost 3 years of research on this and the R33 GTR is the only one that can be taken in legaly. And then only by the ONE company. They are the only ones that hold the patent rights to the procedure to get them road legal.

That being said, the last I updated my information has been about 4 or 5 months ago. So it is entirely possible that the DOT has stopped all importation of them.

There are ways to get them in that arent legal but I wouldnt risk it.

Sorry but you are stuck not being able to take your car back with you. Dont feel bad, I'm in the same boat......

If you want to discuss this more let me know and I'll PM you my number.

Outta curiosity what would happen if you took the car to the VPC to ship it stateside? I mean at what point would someone say something or is it obvious for a Skyline to be caught right away? I shipped a Vette here to Germany a few wks back and the Baltimore Vpc besides paperwork just made sure the e-brake worked. So will the vpc take the car assuming all paperwork is good and at some point Customs will say something or how does it work if anyone happens to know?
-thanks
