Noob!!!!!!!

Well first off my name is Joshua Briggs. Im in the Army stationed at fort bragg in NC back in the states. My wife to be and myself are planning on going to germany. I plan on reenlisting in october. I have loads of questions, dont worry I will search....

One question I do have is for the army guys. Are there any rules as far as owning such a car as the skyline being in the army?

If I do end up coming to germany I will be looking for a R33 GTS-T as soon as im done getting settled in and what not. i love the car and it puts a huge smile on my face thinking that I may be able to own one some day.

A little about me, first off im a PFC, I will be getting married in October and also get my specialist. I have deployed to Haiti with the earthquake relief and was there for 4 months. It sucked ass. Living conditions were awful. Im airborne yes I jump out of perfect planes. lol. Im trying to change to a 25V which is a photographer. I drive trucks now which I hate.

I drive a 07 civic Si coupe which I will be selling before I leave to go to germany. I have a 1993 240sx vert, im in the process of building it into a drift car. It will also stay in the states in a storage unit where it sits now. Hopefully when I get back I will have a list of parts a mile long to finish it. cough....RB25DET.....cough

I have to say that there are some very nice skylines on here and I am very envious of you all. Thanks to all

germany is a bit more expensive than england... and also you have to look at what your getting... a bare bones stock skyline is going to be around 3-5K then you start getting into moddifications...ya we all know we cant get out what we put into it but also we know that they are very rare and highly desired... mine for instance has Suede and leather interior and no cracks on the dash with original floor mats never used... a brand new engine and dynoed at 414... im able to get about 20k euro on the german economy... most soldiers though will get a skyline from japan or england... rag the heck out of it... then sell it on grafyardsales.com or ramsteinyardsales.com or any post or base website like that...for about 10k and once you buy it... your going to have serious maintenance... or no mainenance and only one seat in your car lol.. good luck
We are here to help

im stationed in grafenwohr near the czech border... any ways.. i have a 95 gtst with rb25det brand new engine since the retard who owned this one before me blew that one. well ill get the car back from nissan in a month or two when they learn how to read japanese lol... any who you can buy the car if you want when you get here or i can help you find one no problem... no rules against it in the army.. they kinda dig the rhd's at the gates... good luck on your marriage and getting promoted.. enjoy Germany and keep in touch with us on here.
I hate to call you out But since I am freinds with that "retard" I would like to point out that YOU blew the engine when YOU turned the boost up. You told me yourself that you were racing some chap and when you were done the turbo and exhaust were red hot......Im not sure why you are blaming it on Shawn..it seems to be your fault not his..Ill let him know you said hi though......wow..I cant believe you did that.

Listen the fact that you 2 didn't set the sale of a car up the right way is between you two......the facts are these....I know the car was running fine before you took it home ( I saw it the day he sold it to you without Piggy back ( btw not the same as ecu) He drove it...Im assuming you test drove it ....and you drove it all the way to graf ( 3.5 to 4 hr drive) without one single thing wrong....Then you turn the boost up and blow the engine and call him a retard...congrats man you rock...lol. SO in my eyes it is all your fault I dont see how it couldnt be all your fault...explain what it was that he changed about the car without your knowledge that blew this cars engine.....

edit: sorry for thread hijacking....we should do this over pm..

i never test drove it until i drove home.. i didn't change the boost ever i pressed the menu button not once have i turned the knob as i thought was the issue... boost was and always has been where he set it. this is petty. just as he told me the car has never been painted yet he gave me reciepts for paint...i still have never recieved the parts he agreed to send me and the cars sound system is still in his possession... explain how this is all something i did wrong?

You are right .... Sorry. To get to the point where in Germany you gonna be? If your near ramstein I would look on ramsteinyardsales.com there's even a couple on there right now. Grafenwoehr has their own website and u can check on there as well. Also a website called usmilitarymart usually has some on there. Good luck brotha and let us know when u get settled and get your car well have to meet up.

Hi the vert

"Herzlich Willkommen in Deutschland",
WELCOME and Good Luck for Your upcoming time in Germany.
Anyway, I am German from Cologne and have been often to the US, hence my ambitions to be availiable for any assistance when questions come up where a native German might be of help.
I have been an associated member for years with the US-Embassy Association during the time when the US-Embassy was located in Bonn. Also I was involved with the CBYX (http://www.cbyx.net/cbyx_about.php).
Now I have to admit that I disliked the Embassy-move to Berlin, which caused the loss of many good contacts.
I have stayed with most AFRCīs in Germany for short holidays and I sure do missed it!!!

All the best, Regards, cascade64

thanks guys sorry if I came off as a Dick. one. Good thing is I have plenty of time to look. Yet that also sucks as the same car may not still be available. Are there any other expenses along with owning a skyline. How would insurance be handle and about how much do u guys pay a month. I read a lot about guys not being able to afford these cars what are some of those reasons.

Posting from my phone so please excuse my english. Lol

Thanks guys.

Well I pay around $800 A year with USAA. Thats full coverage. but I do have the muti-car discount.

Most of the cost occurs for the brits the insurance is pretty hefty over there. You dont have to worry about it though. USAA has no idea what a skyline is and therefore its not very expensive.

Dont worry Im not posting from my phone and I still have spelling errors out the ass....lol.

The only thing in germany is getting parts sucks...but theres alot of british based companies on this forum that sell parts and ship for decent rates.

Where in germany you going?

Im not sure where im going yet. Where would be a good place to recommend? Im open to all. How many bases are in Germany? I guess this should be stuff I should ask around and find out while I have time before October comes around.

800 a year is not bad at all though. I have been researching places that sell parts and you are correct not a whole lot to chose from.

So whats the fastest you have gone on the Autobahn?
