R33 burned to the ground

I unfortunately had my beloved r33 Vspec burn to the ground due to an electrical fire from the factory fuse/relay block in the trunk. The car ended up being a total loss vehicle wise but i got extremely lucky that the fire didnt reach forward of the cabin of the car.

I wil most likely be parting the car out to fund my purchase of another gtr, most likely an R34. and heres the parts that appeared on a cursory look to be completely undamaged.

I'm still in the number crunching stage so i'm not completely sure if it will be turned into a for sale type thing.

The long block was largely untouched
Fully built
wossner 86.5mm pistons
BC rods
ACL rod and main bearings.
balanced crank.
cosworth mls
ARP head studs
ported exhaust side
hks cams (264 i believe)
tomei cam gears
n1 water pump
n1 oil pump with reimax gerotor gearset
os giken twin plate clutch/ flywheel with push/pull conversion arm to work with any r32/33
tomei oil pan baffles
ported stock exhaust manifolds

seperate from that would be 2x -5 turbos

mishimoto radiator with nismo 1.3bar cap and samco hoses

ksport 355mm 8 pot front BBK

i dont know if the rear bbk is ok since thats where the fire was

trust y pipe

apexi intake

The car was built a little over 6000 miles ago and has been running strong with rev limiters at ign cut at 8200 and fuel cut at 8500

Max boost its been running was 1.3bar

BTW if you ever get a hint of smoke in your cabin pull over! from the time I first saw smoke to the time the car was engulfed was about 4 minutes

I can't think of much that would be worse than seeing your car burn

It was an emotional day to say the least. I put a lot of blood and sweat into that car and to see the fire consume it all in so short a period was surreal.

I'm not sure if it was an overload or a shorted wire. the investigator the insurance sent mentioned he suspected one of the wiring harnesses was rubbing against something and eventually shorted and caused the fire.

Sorry to hear that mate!!!

Not long ago while driving my mazda i noticed some lights on the dash. (I have had so many problems with that car) Ther air bag light came on shortly followed by my alarm light and soon all the warning lights LOL... My horn started to sound and would not shut off and I started to smell burning????

I pulled over and pulled the cable off of the battery (typical that for once I didnt have a huge amount of tools).... I called breakdown and they recovered me. Turned out to be a electrical control unit shorted out. Insurance wouldnt cover as it wasnt a total loss. It was when my insurance said that that I realised I should have let the ******* burn!!! I have had so many issues with it and it would have been the ideal oppertunity to part with it.

Never mind. I hope yoiu get your car sorted soon mate!!!

How horrible for that to happen!! I'm not sure what I'd do in that situation.

As said above, a relief you weren't hurt!

I will agree its good i can drive another day, the support recieved is phenominal. done with the insurance and that is looking all good so it looks like i'll end up selling the good parts of the car. luckily the fire didnt reach the motor.

The wife has given her blessing for an r34 so maybe in the end this is a blessing.
