350gt admin

Keith has decided to appoint me as admin for our little area even though i didn't volunteer
Over the next week or two i will try to make our area more user friendly and tidy up some of the threads where subjects have overlapped and makes searching for info a nightmare.
I expect this area to grow in members during this year so im sure your all agree it needs doing.
I have a few ideas but if anyone has some suggestions then either post them on this thread or pm me .
I wont be deleting any posts just moving them around a bit so dont worry about your post counts.
Please still use your local area rep for meets etc as i dont want a them and us situation and am eager for us all to mix together whatever Skylines we drive.
All i would ask is once its tidied up we all try to keep threads on topic and not change from tyre sizes to exhaust systems in one thread
Any posts which are not 350gt or 350z info specific ie; show pictures etc should be put up in the main skyline areas.

Lastly if there are any 350z lurkers out there please join us here as we have 80% of our cars in common and im sure have lots of info to share.

thanks
Tom

Congrats on the appointment ...

few questions

is it worth having a GT show pics section ?

just wondering and dont take this wrong way but a valid question and point

But exactly why are 350z owners being requested at all ? its a "skyline forum" , nothing to do with Nissans "other "model , it would be like inviting Primera owners ... no different at all

350z owners have their own sites and tbh its blinkered views of other car clubs that try to assume the V35 is just a zed which it isnt .that annoys 350GT owners , yeah the GT shares a few mechanicals with the 350z as do all manufacturers as its parts bin sharing to save on costs ,

This is a "skyline owners" forum so I really dont see why the need to bring in Nissans other models this section is for the GT owners (skyline owners)

The 350z is not in the main forum as its not relevent ... surely the same applies here ?? its not a "skyline" which the V35 is

G35 wise , the US badge them all Skyline and we can learn off the US guys experience as they have been playing with them for years

Just my view , prob not shared by most but just thought it fair to comment and forums are discussion boards after all , surely our section should be V35 350GT / G35 have never understood why 350z is in our header as this is a "skyline" forum not a multi Jap car site... plenty of rubbish ones of those out there to name a few

My view is this section will be flooded with 350z owners , which defeats the object of a skyline 350GT owners section, and loads of irrelevent information about 350z , two very different cars just share a few running gear parts

in answer to your points....

Even though the majority of the guys here own a skyline, quite a high percentage don't and yet they are included as part of our community, we have many makes of cars come to our meets/track days/drift days/ national meets etc, and as g35brit's car has a SKYLINE badge on the rear i presume its a skyline.
I run this site with no click/attitude as we are all petrol heads and enthusiasts and enjoy the features of all models and banter it runs smooth, you tell me when was the last time we had a thread with all the "attitude and crap" that yr find on pretty much every other nissan site?
As far as i'm concearned the 350's are the move forward as the skyline does depart from us with age, it doesnt mean this will change to a 350 site its just about progression.
As for the expierience from the USA guys, then bring it here and add it to the FAQ section, then yr have a nissan site with no attitude and all the info, so you win hands down?

(QUOTE "The 350z is not in the main forum as its not relevent ... surely the same applies here ?? its not a "skyline" which the V35 is...UN-QUOTE), NO this doesnt apply here and why should it? yr find as many posts in the 350 section by non 350 owners as the actual owners, its called "being a part of".

(QUOTE...Just my view , prob not shared by most but just thought it fair to comment and forums are discussion boards after all , surely our section should be V35 350GT / G35 have never understood why 350z is in our header as this is a "skyline" forum not a multi Jap car site... plenty of rubbish ones of those out there to name a few....QUOTE)

We are up for suggestions to move forward in this area, as for the multi jap car site, have a look on the home page "other nissan models" forum, which is directly under the 350 forums lol, along with stagea etc? maybe its this shite attitude that has clouded the 350/35's which in turn will rub others up the wrong way and therefore get the wrong feedback and arguments?. I'm always looking to improve things here and suggestions are always discussed guys, i'm thankful for this thread/post, at least we can deal with it and move to a better forum....Keith

think you covered the pros and cons , but i felt i had to say what probably alot of GT owners were thinking ..

forums are discussion boards after all questions and answers ,

but i think 350z needs to still be not mixed in with 350GT section

perhaps like the stagea give them their own section , as the stagea is a skyline powered car but has its own section same should apply to the 350z

the constant 350z assocaition/ comparision with the 350GT is what winds GT owners up

GT owners bought an offical badged skyline replacement to the R34 not a 350z

its just taken all the blinkered people a few years to finally understand that ,

i just strongly feel the zed owners have a seperate section like the stagea guys , dont get me wrong i nearly bought a zed and stageas are wicked ,

but if people started posting up stagea stuff in the main forum they would be moved so whats different in the GT section ?

we can all visit these different areas and input

In other nissan we have the 200SX there, 350z should be there with them as its non skyline related

the V35 350GT is a skyline , thats my point really the zed isnt , the V35 is the R34 progression in skyline circles , see what tom feels , but i just feel GT wise it should be where it is and not combined with the 350z , I introduced our GT to SO back in 2007 as it was the "new skyline" long before we had the seperate section as it was a skyline ,

We now have a fair number of 350GT skyline owners , a very active sub forum , we can also interact with the rest of us other 32/33/34 owners , i can share my GT stuff on the main forum as it is exactly what it is a skyline not a zed , 200sx or a stagea all cool cars but those "nissan models " like us GT owners have their own sections

I am not against any Nissan models coming on board , i'm a true petrol head and appeciate all models , but passionalty disagree with the GT's and zeds combing its undoing all the hardwork over the years trying to get people to understand the GT is the R34 replacement we now have the V36 all progression

While i can see some of the points raised, i myself have no problem with the 350Z being included, as it was my understanding from doing a fair bit of research into the subject, that the 350GT shares both the chassis, (OK its a tad elongated with different fittings for the body, but essentially pretty similar)suspension, and of course the engine,

Which to my way of thinking makes it less than poles apart, and in fact a dam site closer than any of the former "Skylines"

I didn't buy my 350GT because its a Skyline, i bought it because i was considering the 350Z and wasn't happy with the space it afforded,so the 350GT being the logical conclusion for more room.

I had considered a GTT but as i want to get away from the turbo car syndrome and wanting a more modern car with a less angular look the 350GT again was the logical conclusion.

I am also inclined to think by quoting the Skyline badge its being rather elitist,
the Skyline was designed as a four wheel drive straight six turbo car (well the last three anyway)with all the attributes that go with the breed, but the 350GT bares no resemblance to this criteria at all! and in the US its basically a luxury sport car, with no retentions of being a turbo fire breather that that the rest of the US sees the Skyline as.

Just my two pennith for what its worth.

Edit: I don't think we will be flooded by 350Z owners, as they have there own dedicated UK forum, where as we 350GT owners have only this one.

my point is being missed

the 350GT is a skyline , the zed isnt ,

so if we have the Zed , shall we combine with a stagea and bring a few other models in too ?

the GT is a modern car it uses parts bin , it was produced as the 34 replacement , if we want to be really politically correct the new GTR isnt a skyline , the V35 and V36 are

the 350z is another nissan model in its only right .. that is my point

its not about the badge , its why do we combine a car made and branded not as a skyline in with the skyline GT ,

Stagea has all the running gear of a GTR and GTS R33 /34 yet has its own sub section parts bin again you see

the skyline has been many models over the years ... the GTR was along way down the line

people think skyline and assume R32 /33 / 34 because thats all they know since imports arrived in late 90s the GT is as much a skyline as the R33 GTR just a newer model progression and Nissan gave it the badge not the zed

350GT is 1 sec slower than a standard R33GTR to 60 ,in manual form about 3 bhp less , its does not need turbos ( 2x of them ) and 4WD..... its progression

in standard form the 32 /33 GTR was a capable car but not the fire breathing cars people assume , that comes with modding them ,

drive a stock 33GTR impressive but not amazing and fire breathing

my view on this is debate

We are Skyline owners club

350GT is a skyline and we have our own section as we are new 34 skyline progression

any other non badged "skyline" Nissan models have their own sections

i will go with what people want but you are undoing years of the GT trying to be understood for what it is rather than numpties out there in car land and magazines thinking its a 4 seater 350z ,

US love it and take it to the next level , and badge it skyline as most states dont allow the old model , its infiniti out there as they dont use the Nissan brand
