Garage feedback

What about a section for garage feedback. If you have taken you car to a garage and want everyone to know how good or bad they were it might be an idea to have a little section for it. What do you think?

I like it Dave, it might get members better deals at places or stop them getting bitten. Only thing we would have to watch is that it doesn't turn libelous, but I'm sure we could moderate that.

Been suggested before, but we don't want to get in to the game of slagging traders off, and also advertising traders who don't support the forum. A lot of options for abuse..... and it would be abused!

But surely if a garage has given bad service or ripped someone off then why shouldn't people know about it. Also whats wrong with praiseing a garage that doesn't pay this forum? It may be a regular garage that doesn't specialise in performance cars that someone has used and feels they should get some recognition.

I agree it would be a good idea, but constructive critisism normally
doesnt go down to well, where as praise is allways welcomed
in my line of business you are only as good as your last job..
and word soon gets around.

I agree with Lenny, in a perfect world it would be a great idea, but this ain't a perfect world. What happens if somebody slates a paying trader? Also if it were to be done you would need photographic/documentary proof. More trouble than its worth really.

i agree with lenny to, if someone needs a recommended garage then usually they ask here, the problem we will have is if a job does go wrong for whatever reason (and sometimes they do through no blame ie,changing a manifold gasket and a stud breaks, therefore extra costs) it can cause an up-roar between either members that will defend the garage and the person who feels they got ripped off, or from one garage to another, so with all the pro's and cons its best left to posting up for a reputable garage/tuner,

Yup, I agree with chief.

Traders are also very sensitive. I made a couple of loose comments about one on here (nothing major at all) and I got a bit of a PM rant. I can fully understand their position, this forum is just a larf for most of us but to the traders it's their business.

For me, a quick post requesting recommended garages/mechanics in my area gets good results. If you want to warn someone of your experience then send a PM - it works wonders and saves any animosity.

Just my two penneth..
