My project it's a vw .. Beware

hey guys and gals,

I think it may be about time for me to throw up a few pictures of my jetta seen as i am about half way thruogh already lol.

Ok were do i start........ am i suppose i bought my little humble 90 1.6 td jetta with great intentions of doing it up over the summer but due to my 21st round the corner funds wouldn allow me :-( , so i started around mid september sometime as for dates i dont really know lol

( in advance i apoligise for any crap spelling its judt im not the best speller in the world ha )

my plans for the car are:
1) strip it down
2) get rid of as much rust as possible
3) re-spray
4) borbet type a's
5) g60 archs and arch cut outs
6) cheap skate rallye front lol (corrado front)
7) coilovers
8) smooth off aerials and side mouldings

There is prob alot more stuff i want to do just forgot it or havent thought of it yet lol

oddly i dont have pictures before hand just one or two but ill stick them up anyway.

right heres the pics:

car before:

then i started to strip off all the rubbers and bumper etc and found a fair bit of rust :-(

heres the drivers side rear door

the other passo door was the same. the boot was very bad to around the locking part ( pics to follow)

Anyway not having any new metal i had to cut some out of a old car and bend it into place

Before

then a handsome young man bending it with a stick lol ( thats me btw just home from work)

and the finished bend which i had to make two of

those pics are bloody massice lol. Anyway here is a mock up the way it fit into the doors

other side of the door

now the boot was all rusted through too so we had to make pretty much a new part ( i have a picture of the rust before but i cant seem to find it)

here it is half in anyway (we had to replace the shiny bit )

during welding (thats my bro who is doing most of the work lol)

finished product

edit that wasnt it fully finished lol we fully ewelded it and ground it down alot better than that

then the doors sections welded up and ground

removed the hitch ( i left that that bar because i wasnt sure what it did)

my exghaust is pretty damn sweet dont ya think lol

i also found more rust under the sills whicch was a bit annoying because we thought there wasnt any when buying the car :-( But i dont have any pictures of these bits

Moving onto the archs and the g60's marked out (only a rough guess)

then cut out with a angle grinder, i did both side obviously lol

then onto the back archs, i did pretty much the same thing marked out

again leaving enough room and cut with an angle grinder

then welded it up due to the double skin

then got my hands on these two ( siekens spray can primer and wurth sealer stuff (which is very very thick) ) and i did all these bits

arch

doors

passo side sill

I did alot more than the like the tops of the doors, boot and other sides of the sill but the pics seemed to have dissapeared lol

anyway i think thats most of the welding bits done ( or so i thought anyway lol)

Lol that door pic isnt actually as bad as it looks hahaha and my god it looks rough ha

Anyway i have pretty much all the ibside striped and ready for painting , unfortinitily i dont have any pics of this because i couldnt find the camera (which i found on the table beside the car lol).

i have the seats, dash (what a horrible job), roof liner out along with the carpets and it wasnt the worst under the carpet but looks like it hit one big stone or somethimg due to a dent in it .
O ya guess what...... i found more bloody rust on the drivers and passo foot well !!!!!! it aint too bad just annoying

anywho here is a picture of how it stands now with it all scotched and cleaned ( with stuff called " panel wipe" not sure is that the proper name but its serious tack , its actually like white spirts)

Boot

rear seats (crappicture i know lol )

pictue of said rust, also a bit on the left which is a bit hard to see

LOOK AT MY DIRTY FINGER LOL

not too sure were this bit is drivers side foot weel me thinks

The inside is pretty much ready for paint now i just need to do that welding and and maybe primr the welded bits

Plans for the inside are
spray it green inside ( just to freshen it up)
lots and lots of sound deading
flock the dash
dye the carpet black
seats im not sure what to do yet as i wanted to put in the early spec blue ones i have in my other jetta but i dont know of they will mis match!!! i may just retrim them dark green and black maybe
decent speakers (prob focal or bose if i can afford them and head unit ( prob alpine)

think thats it inside really. i know everything is all mixes up but we are doing lots of different things at a time lol

more pics tomorrow of fillers its pretty much half done at the moment (but 2 doors have to be carbonised to stop the spring in them)

i had one of these a few years ago, the 1.8 4+1 model. the torque from the engine was quite supprising. i did the the 1.6 head conversion to it to give it more compression.
