Hi,

Sometimes I think it's nice to know how much real world difference you get from different modifications. If anyone is willing to give these 2 tests a go it would be interesting to see the results (pls supply car spec!). Because road driveability is important to me, I have included two tests - one using the gears and one just in one gear to see how well the engine pulls across a broad range of revs.

The beauty of rolling start tests is that it takes driver skill (if not girth) almost completely out of the equation.

I have put in a few results that I or friends have already timed and may be of interest to you for point of comparison. Just in case you were wondering, JamesBB is my boss who, as a P1 member, gets to borrow all sorts of great cars ... so we have a play while he has them!

IMPORTANT: test started by sitting at a constant 40 and then flooring it while starting the timer - NOT by starting at a lower speed and starting the timer as it reaches 40, ie the times include turbo lag.

Disclaimer: pls make sure you have somewhere safe to do this. I cannot condone speeding on public roads.

40 - 100mph in one gear:

Trouble is with a GTS-T is that the std redline in 3rd is about 95mph
Unfortunate - but you could still do the "using the gears" test ...

FWIW my GTR did it in 4th in about 9.3. 4th is good for over 140mph.

Do any of you fancy trying the tests at the start of this thread? ... and does anyone think they can come close to the 4 second time of an R1? !!

Yeah, that's what I used. Not exactly TAG Heuer levels of accuracy but then again neither is my right thumb and that's what's pressing the button ...

Not wanting to cause offence, but they're pretty crap figures to compare against.

How wonderful, the heavily modded R33 beat all of the stock vehicles? Not exactly what you'd call a level playing field is it?

You've got an S2000, which is VTEC and therefore crap at this stuff. Then you've got a VTEC Elise which is going to suffer for the same reasons, but as it's light and may have a different gearbox won't show it so much. The BMW 328 was never a quick car so why it's on the list with 193bhp is beyond me and the Merc E55 is a limousine. The Stock M3 did a very reasonable time which would not only have beaten a stock R33 by a long way but also probably a stock R34. The Ferrari just showed it's age next to the BMW.

Shame there's no decent competition in their for the silly modded GTR. ooh but it's ok, the BMW was a "good example" :D
