Lo All

I recently got a Skyline R33GTS (all Standard) which seems to have a Flatspot in Most gears at around 5000 Rpm, I have put it in the Nissan Garage and have had no luck finding the problem. A friend of mine said a power boost valve would sort this out does anyone know if this is true or has anyone had this problem before that would be able to give me some advise?

Cheers

hi ya samskyline
got any mods ?- some people on here have had to remap air fuel mix as a result of flat spots like this after fitting induciton kit / exauhst - one theory is the stock ecu is trying to prevent over boosting
some else'll be along in abit :)

does your friend know anything about skyline tuning??? I doubt a power boost vavlue would fix the problem. Usually these things are caused by a boosting problem or the ecu is in need of a remap. But I'm no expert!

Can one of our more technical posters have a thought on this please?

Power boost valve? Never heard a good word about them.

I personally had a huge flat spot around 5500 rpm, turned out car was running WAY too rich at that point. Leaned her off a bit using the S-AFC and problem solved. Well, better anyway....

Some Nissan garages may be able to help, but the majority will be clueless.... Best to speak to a skyline specialist in this case methinks....

You could try an ECU reset, but I doubt that will be the cure.

Good luck!

be a good thing to know what mods this is running as i cant see it having a flat spot as standard, although this could be where the VVT comes in.
