Advice on purchasing a 1994 Nissan skyline Gts

Hey lads, I live in Australia Im 18 and absolutely love cars, keen to learn and get in the car community but have never owned a nice car just your basic 4 banger to get me to work. I have been working my ass off recently and managed to save up $16k AUD and within the next couple of days i'm going to look at 1994 Nissan skyline Gts and it's priced at $15k AUD (no rego or wc). The car looks immaculate in the pictures exterior and interior ,sitting at 122,000km, is auto and comes with a rb20de.I don't have any family or friends to ask advice for this sort of stuff so i'm kinda on my own here but don't want to get ripped off as I'm not 100% mechanically minded, I know somewhat but that's it. I would like some advice if getting this skyline is worth it even though it doesn't have the rb25, I have heard a lot of people say most skylines aren't worth it if it has the rb20, i'm just unsure if this is true or not. Just curious at $15k if it would be a good buy even with the rb20. Any advice is appreciated!

Hey Id pass man for that much you could get a better deal. You could probably get a good gtst for that price. Skylines aren’t really entry level cars parts are really expensive and with their age they will be falling apart on you. You will need basic knowledge and tools not to mention a spare ride for when something breaks on you. Plus do you really want to pay that much for automatic? If I was you I’d shop around for a gtst at least better yet save a few more bucks take a trip to Japan and import one from there probably could finance one help build your credit and not dump all your money into one.

IMO skylines should be manual (understand if you have a reason/need) but I would look elsewhere.
Performance orientated jdm cars are best in manual and any auto's should be considerably cheaper**, as they are not as desirable.
**(although loads of dealers will try and hike up the price because of its name status, but they are not the same as their manual brothers, so just know that and either avoid or negotiate a much better price! and be fully prepared to walk away!!!!!).

RB20's are ok and have potential with lots of $$ put into them, but you might as well get a RB25DET, as any skyline is going to be costly - anything skyline tagged these days just add a few 00 to the price.
As Xtremetofu says you might be able to get a r33 gtst??

if you are set on a R33 skyline's consider these ;
Triple check the strut towers for signs of rust, as they rot from in between the skins and can be hidden easily if you don't know what to look. These will all at some point need fixing - many $$$.
Options for wheels are much better on 5 lug variants - I think the non turbo 33's and R32 non gtrs are 4 lug (another reason to go R33 GTST/R34GTT's)
These cars are modifying magnets, so make sure you know what is/should be present - and what night be missing/need changing - more $$$
Lookup what you might be spending just to service these cars annually - as this may help you decide??
Find someone local that has/had one for some time or get a specialist to advise.
