So after owning my 2nd skyline for nearly a year I find myself thinking every now and then "I've had enough of this crap!"

Now I know owning a Skyline is awesome and I couldn't imagine not owning mine after searching so long for the right one.

So why would I ever think about selling it I hear you ask?

Could it be the endless list of parts/upgrades and work to do? Possibly, it is very long

Or the way you can get messed around with some awful garages, get the car back eventually and find you still have to sort loads of bits out and the work is shockingly shoddy? This one definitely grinds my gears and makes me question the money I put into it.

After finally getting my Skyline fitted with a top mount turbo setup (garret gtx 3067r) which had been my aim for such a long time I find the garage have removed my recirc pipe so the car stalls every now and then, didn't do 2 of the 3 jobs and the engine bay is a mess of pipes. Plus the fact I got the car back covered in sand from the storm that blew sand over 8 weeks ago!

They fitted the plenum also

Whilst this isn't a witch hunt against the garage is just wondered what keeps other people going when questioning whether to cut their losses or not?

And also what experiences they have had

One last thing, I think their should be a page with garages on and everyone can leave their personal ratings on that page on the forum with an average star rating given out of 5 so everyone can see who's recommended and who isn't.

I know that would go against traders but shouldn't we as a skyline forum be advising on where to go and where to avoid?

Just my mumblings as I'm bored working in Kenya at the minute, pic of work in engine bay below

Internet to slow to upload pics but let's just say it was very lazy work with no care taken, pipes and wires every where so now I need to sort out tidying it all up and tucking

You could spend a few hours under that bonnet and make it look so much neater,

The turbo wants clocking round so the out let isn't sticking out like so, not sure why any one would set it up in that way., looks in-slightly..

Top feed injectors and fuel rail help the look of things..

Wore took the loom.. Injector loom can go under side of the plenum..

Get your self a link ecu and illuminate the maf

Here's some inspiration for you ..

My r33 running a gt3076r :)

Most forums have an endorsement thread for traders, although they tend to ban rant threads on traders as it should be sorted out privately.

Have to say I am very lucky to have a dad and brother who are both car mechanics, my dad used to work on Jags such as XJ220s (did Rod Stewarts car) and the like so a Skyline is nice and straight forward for him! Has saved me thousands of pounds in work over the years!

But as above, unless selling is part of your plan (as I am selling up at the moment) I often find knee jerk sales of cars which you spent a long time looking for often end up bad decisions! You just need to walk away for a day or two, have a few beers with your mates and come back fresh!

You will always get hassle owning cars like these, and you're always going to have/want to spend money on them, but that's just all part of Skyline ownership.

I bought my GTS-T exactly 12 months ago. Apart from replacing the wheels, which were damaged, I have upgraded from panel to pod filter..... at a total cost including adapter plate of £21.00!! Resist the temptation to spend, spend, spend. Put your money in the fuel tank and DRIVE.....
ps. I AM thinking of investing in a fmic!! :)

Lol the temptation to spend is to much...

And your right I can't think of another car I'd want to own as good as the Skyline for the same money, just a shame my parts list is so long, added it up the other day and reckon I'll need another 7000 to be near what I'd call finished...but that's without a forged engine lol

I have often thought it and followed through by selling them(ive owned 7),now when i look back as coldel says, they were all kneejerk sales tempted by other marquees but i eventually came back to a skyline, there isnt much out there for the same money that gives as much fun !!

Idolised them while growing up, then bought mine four years ago when I needed rear seats. Kinda underwhelmed to be honest! Always have been, but can't afford to change it for anything quicker or mod it any more until both kids start school and the wife can get working again. It sounds good, but that's about all they have going for them unless you can afford to throw a lot of money on the engine and suspension.

Yes esp. the 2 door chassis (R33) is floppy as std, and the power is not all that great.......
BUT BUT BUT,
With some well spent money and time it is possible to make the chassis so good that 350 bhp atf is enough for almost anything - anytime.
It takes some work, all DIY-able....
I love how mine works, all of it, and I'm not selling.

I spent a lot on mine this year but now it will have to be left for a while (apart from small items)

Got alot of important/expensive things happening next year so the car will sit for a while as is but at some point in the future ill pick it up again and continue getting it to where I want it

Still glad I own one tho as there is no rush in completing what I want to do and already done so much, i just need to learn to be a little patient
