I just spent the day hooking up an AVC-R, and when I fired the car up, everything seemed to be working ok, apart from the speed monitor on it. Only then did I notice my main dash speedo had died. I tried taking the speed wire from the avcr loom back off the ecu, but the dash one still was kaput. I've definitely spliced into the correct wire, and only heated the wire long enough to flow the solder over the join.
I'm not sure if I've made a boo-boo, or if the speedo dying was purely a co-incidence. Anyone got any ideas on what/how I can check?

Yeah, AVC-R was innocent. I had the guages cluster out to replace the bulbs and I think I broke the speedo cable.
Anyone know how it 'should' be connected? Right now I have the little plastic tube thing and it's not connected to anything on the dash side, only plugged into the back of the cluster. I'm assuming there's supposed to be something on the other side where it goes into that hole on the back of the dash?
