Battery draining

hi Guys,

i bought a battery a little while ago and the car's been stood up for a while too, i'm now getting the car back on the road and i've charged the battery up a few times and it starts the car once then that's it so i've borrowed a mates "bigger" battery and fully charged that (or so i thought) and that started the car then was drained an hour later.

what could the issue be IF it's not the battery and how would i check what is draining it soo fast?

i'm hoping that now i have fully FULLY charged it it will work when i get home from work (i started it this morning and it was fine) my turbo timer has a voltage button so i can see what i'm getting from the alternator which is around 13-14amps

i don't want to have to buy another battery and really don't want to have to get an electrician out as my MOT is saturday morning at 8am and i'm at work all day tomorrow

I used to have similar problems on my R33. My battery died so I put a new one on and I found myself jump starting it all the time. I tried everything except for looking at the battery as I had the attitude of "its new so it can't be that".
I even fitted a killswitch to turn the gauges on and another for the 2 amps in the boot so when the car was starting, the battery didn't have to turn on anything other than the engine.

Turns out it was the battery all along so I put on an Optima Red Top and never had a single problem after that :) That's why when I bought my R34 the first thing I did was fit a Red Top!

a nice drive will charge it,

but dont do a me... check to see whether the battery light has come up on dash as i didnt notice it with my steering wheel in way...

so last year i suffered similar problem it had been stood ages, and then last minute jumped started it and on way to japfest ..15miles later my hids went out and dash dimmed whilst doing 70 on mway at night, luckily mway was empty and service station was in sight..

the battery light had been on and it turned out to be the alternator, had to be recovered :(
