Please excuse me if it is covered, but I’d like to start this as I’ve still not found any concrete info on this.

I have a neo engine, am in need of a bottom end, I know the crank and pistons are different; but the block is what I’m wanting to know more about.

I have read and been told that all the blocks from 20-30 are essentially the same. Although, have read that the 25 and neo 25 are different, and have also read that they are the same but the other parts such as head and internals are the defining parts.

I ask as neo engines are becoming more scarce and expensive, and I’d rather not fork out 14 grand or whatever the cost is to have a block made.

it would also be of help to understand why shops charge so much for a violet block when the specs are all saved, the machine does the work and material being not inherently expensive, and being somewhat time effective as well?

welcome all different sides of this topic, take it easy on me it’s my first post haha.

Definitive answer I’ve come to.
Block is the same and interchangeable.
Cranks same, pistons, rods are not of course as with the head.
