Ok guys got a japspeed intercooler on the way managed to find a very good second hand one :). I've got the full exhaust cat back and a blitz induction so apart from the boost im ready for stage one just want to know if the mannual kits you see on ebay for like £20 are any good? where do they fit to etc?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MANUAL-BOOST-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item33594ba220

is just like one on there thers loads! or is it best to get a computer one? Also im gonna get an aftermarket boost guage how easy are they to fit like where do you run the sensors?

Sorry about all the questions but im not a mechanic lol

I'd avoid mechanical boost controllers personally. Trusting £20 of ebay goodness not to kill your turbos/engine is not my cup of tea.

With the money you could save by not getting a boost guage just yet you'd probably get an electronic boost controller (which also displays boost)
Ok then where can i get one from and are they easy to fit or is it recommend to go to a garage?
i used an MBC on my s14a and it cant hold boost at high revs. thats only speaking for an apex performance MBC others might be different. might be completely different on a skyline alltogether

:)

edit: also electronic boost controllers (greddy profec B2 for me) was easy to fit and did it myself within an hour. there are guides all over the internet on fitting and in the FAQ section of this forum iirc

I have a manual boost controller and works perfectly for me and it's the exact same one you have there on ebay. The only reason I bought it because it was cheap and I did not want to fiddle about with different settings. I just wanted to set and forget. I got mine fitted by Speedr33per and not had any problems with it. :)

If I had extra cash to spend on a boost controller Then I would have got the electronic one but as I said wasn't too bothered playing about the settings lol!!!

Hey mate did u use your standard boost guage in the dials or get an aftermarket 1?
mate you can pick up a gizzmo Ibc for about 200 quid does the
job & easy to fit

I already had an aftermarket one when I bought her. If you check out the link on my signature you'll notice it's on the steering wheel (kinda).I would get an aftermarket one unless you know what you are doing just incase (you don't want the turbo blowing). :)
don't even bother with that piece of junk.
You may want to invest in some uprated coil packs too mate if you havnt already.
i know they arnt cheap but you will need them anyway if you are going for more power.
? Only if the OE ones are knackered (fwiw I'd go for OE over others if they were the same price)
Oh i got the coil packs sorted mate after 2 sets of 2nds and a new battery aswell the winter killed the old one, runs amazing now. Im still not cinvinced theres people saying good and bad im just as confused as before. I dont have an endless stream of money but do want to get to stage one as just want that little bit of an edge if you get me.
Personally I would invest in an elecronic one,an mbc is only as accurate as ur boost gauge whereas an ebc checks the boost roughly every 1/10th of a second(iirc) and adjusts it accordingly, just a whole lot more accurate especially with the delicate ceramic turbos
Personally I would stay away from mbc and invest in a ebc your only want/need one later if you continue to mod it. First and for most to help protect better against boost spikes. and sorry but maybe its just me but would you trust your engine and turbo with a 20quid controller. Maybe I have issues

On a avcr for example not sure about others.

But you can set the boost for each gear at any given rpm to avoid wheel spin. It has all the gauges within the controller. You can set a high and low boost and switch between the two at a flick of switch. Record many outputs ie boost, duty, throttle, and play back to help fine tune to achieve the best from it.

I would up rate the coils from oe as the higher boost will make the coil packs hotter as there will be a greater demand to supply a stronger spark. Also I would look a re gapping the spark plugs too .8mm and look at a fuel pump upgrade.

I would if you couldn't afford a ebc get a R32 actuator as this is set to .8bar
nothing wrong with a mech boost controler, just dont get a cheap ebay one.

ive been using an apex one (they trade on here) think it was around 30 quid .. set and forget.. its never let me down and a dosnt spike.

sure an electronic one is very nice and looks flashy, but not really needed
EBC everytime...
Ok i think iv made my mind up thanks for all the input im gonna fit the FMIC and just save my ass off do some more hours on the door and hope iv got enough pennies by the summer for an ebc, rsp coilpacks and the stage one ecu chip :)
