I'm About to upgrade my brake fluid to 5.1. Do I just buy halfords 5.1 brake fluid or will buying a better make fluid i.e Motol, Castrol etc Have better braking efficiency?

Best you can get is Castrol SRF, it's crazy expensive and overkill unless you're a track nut.

Some competetion DOT4's exceed the minimum spec for the DOT5.1 fluids, I personnaly use the Halfords Racing DOT4, they come in 1L bottles, much happier with that. It has a much higher boiling point than say a DOT5.1 that just meets the spec.

I'm the biggest track nut I know and I use halfords 5.1 and don't have any probs with it.

Personally I found the Halfords DOT5.1 gave a very spongy pedal feel, something I never experienced with their Racing DOT4 fluid. Lines were bled properly so it can't be air or moisture causing it.

I used Motul dot 5.1, reasonable price from OPIE OILS in the traders section bud
