Hey guys just wondering if anyone can answer following questions about NA R34 4 doors models? I've search all over the net trying to find out. I'm looking to import a new skyline as a friend of mine has a friend who imports cars and can sort me out with a proper price so this is looking realistic now.

1) were they available with the RB20DE NEO or is that just the 2 door
2) are they a 5 stud wheel fit ment
3) *sigh yes this question comes up again* MPG, I've seen what you guys are realistically getting from an RB20DE but is the NEO realistically improving it
4) what is the better drive, manual or lazy auto.

Just to point out i'm not fussed about power here, I just want a nice looking practical car to replace the fail 1.1ltr fiesta i'm rolling around in at the moment as a daily drive. I have a powerfull car in the 300bhp R32gtst that is off the road at the moment.
My requirements are 4 doors and car must be able to achieve at least 30-35 MPG (I drive 60 miles a day at the moment).

Okay, well at the moment I have 3 r34's of different configurations, so should be able to tell and help with most questions, hopefully!

1.) 4 doors were available as far as I know in three different engine setups, rb20de Neo, rb25de Neo and rb25det Neo, with manual, auto and Tiptronic.

2.) Yes all three cars I have are 5 stud, 4 stud fit for N/A's finished with the R33

3.) Mpg like everything will depend on the heavyness of your right foot, the auto has power/snow and overdrive modes which can help, but to be honest whatever Skyline you go for is going to drink fuel as they are big heavy cars and sooner or later your going to want to go quickly. My 4 door daily generally gets through about £55/60 a week of standard fuel based on a 53mile round trip mon-fri

4.) Matter of opinion this one, Auto can be nice for lazy drive, manual is the most fun and gives you far better control when you want to go quick and lets you choose the gear when you want to be economical. Tiptron can offer both in terms of steering controls as an aid and can be run in Auto mode, if you were nearer I would say pop over and try all three options. :) Oh and depends if you want to drift... ever!

Cheers mate what a quality answer! I'm not too fussed about the whole power/ drifting thing as my R32 (when I get it back on the road) does all that anyway. Your only an hours drive away (ok maybe an hour and half in the shitty fiesta) so if it's not too much bother I may take you up on that offer at some point.

How do you find the extra length of the 4 door in multi story car parks?
Any pics of your cars for me to perve over lol?

Sure thing, my manual one is a drift project and is the one in the middle in the photos.

Took these last week as its the first time all three of my R34's have officially met, having got the Drift project from the bodyshop earlier that day

I like that you parked both in the police only zone :D.

I have the RB25DE Neo R34 and i get around 25-30mpg depending on how heavy my foot feels (so around 25). Its a nice car to own and I use it as a daily and it hasnt missed a beat yet.

I had a little fun in the snow until I fitted a set of snow tires but thats just the whole RWD thing.

yeah, did that the day I picked the 4 door up, had to be a quick park jump out, grab photo and make a getaway kind of shot, but made it all the more fun :)

That's some cracking shots there. Its White I'd love to get it in as well. What are the 4 bumps on the bootlid of the 4 door for?

Oh yeah and is the 2 door wider than your drift project one? Looks like it in the pictures.

the bumps are where the 4 door used to have a big way wing at some point in its life, I will take them off and smooth them over eventually :)

Not sure why, I think its the way the cars are sitting in the photo but the middle one is definatley the widest, rear wings are from Japsalon so are the wider than gtr ones, might be to do with the bumpers and wheels too? Not sure really but its got a lot of things to go on it yet... :dogpile:

Lol quality, yeah Gaz does some awesome stuff. I think the R34 is gonna come first then i'll save for the EIII kit for my R32 that he's got on his. The N/A engines in yours, are they Rb25's or Rb20's?

The 4 doors a rb20de, both 3 doors are rb25de's at the moment, although the drift car will be getting a rb26 conversion as I want it running around 550bhp when it and I are ready for competition etc.

Ah excellent. How do you find the rb20de lump? I'm used to the rb20det in my r32 but that's running twice the power in a lighter car. Would you recommend the rb20de or rb25de as a daily driver

Honestly I would say the rb25de is better, the rb20 isn't terrible but it is a low powered engine in a R34 with the extra weight, specailly in a fully trimmed 4 door, although with overdrive off and the power button on it does pickup and drive very well so depends on your driving style really!

Great pics! I wud love to have neighbor like you :D

Did you strip anything off that drift car to save weight?

Seriously R34 could be some 100kg lighter as standard would be perfect but I understood it could be tricky not to mess original perfect-ish weight distribution.. like what parts to replace? what material?

Hey Ambba,

Haha most I have had outside the house is 2 at once so far so neighbours arnt too unhappy. So far weight wise I have changed front wings, doors, rear wings, carbon bonnet and boot and stripped the rear interior, bucket seats to replace the fronts will cut down a bit more, though offset by the rollcage.

R34 is a VERY heavy car to start with, even in NA Gt form so we will see, I suspect a lot of cost and fiddling will be involved with the engine swap to develop the kind of power and response I want :)
