hi, can anyone help me please, my skyline has developed a problem and i dont know what to do next, its a 1994 R33 and it keeps cutting out when im driving, ive changed the fuel pump and had the fuel relay checked but the problem continues, i would be most gratefull for any advice, cheers, lee.
A quick update, after reading other members similer probs i decided to disconnect the AFM and try to clean it but after re-fitting the car wont even start so guessing that the AFM was the problem all along i bought a new one, not a nissan but a copy, new and the right one for the car and guess what? the car still wont start!!! all i did was replace the AFM, i never touched anything else, it try's to start but just dies, now im thinking theres some kind of fuel starvation or something, but at least i could use it before i replaced the AFM - any ideas anyone? cheers for all your help, this really is a great site!!!!!!

Welcome. Does it stall when the clutch is pressed in (when coming to a stop)or when your driving?
my pal had similar prob and it was his turbo timer, it was under dash and he didnt even know it had one
Does it loose power then die, or does it just cut out????

Mine has done that a few times- any idea what causes it?
3rd that ^^^^^^^ mine cuts out rarely when i dip my clutch
Me too!! Not fuel pump. Poss afm??
fitting a dump valve can also cause it to cut out or a vaccum leak
I will not be defeated

Well i've changed the bov today and its got a little better(I found out the old one was sticking abit),tomorrows job is checking all the boost, fmic and induction pipework,I WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS.:aka47::crazy:

The most common cause is aftermarket bov or air leak some where? I would try using a stock bov too see if that helps and try checking all hoses and clamps for leaks.

Hi, Have you checked all the connections on the afm? Also have you tried putting the old one back on too see if it starts then? It may be possible that your new one is faulty.
hi, yes we replaced the old AFM and its the same, it actually tries to start better with the AFM dissconected, maybe the old one is knackerd and the new one is faulty, i dont know but in my veiw the problem has to be with the AFM as the car was working before we removed the old AFM but a few of my mechanic friends seem to think theres another problem, i just cant see how this could be, we're all scratching our heads!!!
if you dissconnect the afm will it start?
nope, it trys but just dies, i can sort of keep it going if i rapidly pump the throttle but its very lumpy and ends up just dying
it should idle ok mate and not die but see if you hold a rev of 2000 rpm on it and plug the afm in what happens??
did that too me old mate and guess what? it just stopped!!!! couldnt hold it at 2000 revs either, just up and down between 1000 and 2000 revs but that was with me pumping the throttle, take my foot offand it dies
something else wrong i think as with the afm off it should start and idle ok
