My Turbo Supra's V5C took from August 1st til the 20th February to come thru, after several phone calls, e-mails and a couple of replacement application forms....and that was for just a simple address change.
as a footnote to the saga from the Supra V5C, the new owner registered it on the 28th February into his name...the new document arrived on his doormat 5 days after he had written it off by wrapping it around a tree, a couple of weeks later.
Currently waiting for 9 months road tax refund from scrapped Nissan and new V5C for the BMW....
Taking into consideration we have just had the Easter hols, I would guess that post would be later than usual anyway...not to mention the strike at Oxford sorting office for last 3 weeks or so...may have a bearing on post not getting thru, depending on where you are in the country.
the DVLA are a bunch of ***** ther are scum... how happy was i when i recieved a customer service survey through the post? LOL i wouldnt have liked to be the person that opened that and had to read/write it up...
Thats the main reason why I find it really disgusting that the DVLA are charging £19 for a replacement V5C if by chance you have either lost yours, never had one at time of purchase or if thru many yrs of ownership the old one has fallen to bits or become cruddy. Where exactly is this fee going? Its certainly not going back towards the motorist to make our lives a bit easier...its all very well to bring in new fees, but we never seem to get an explanation as to why, except the usual 'admin costs involved in changing the software to produce the new look, European styled V5C's' Sorry but did any motorists actually ask to have the document changed? Were any of us actually consulted first? Don't think so.
Like you Jaffa, I keep my documentation nice and clean and tidy...in a folder safely tucked away at home..only carry photocopies in the car with me. But there are some people who do have very dogeared V5C's lurking in their gloveboxes....my Dad was one such person whose V5 ended up having coffee and such like spilt all over it more than once. lol
Supposedly, in theory, yes it is Jaffa. But sometimes even the best filing clerk/driver/owner loses that bit of paper occasionally...when I spoke to the DVLA they told me the fee would be spent on an HPI check of each new V5C applied for any vehicle. So much for choosing to do a check for yourself before purchasing a vehicle.
I can see the reasoning behind the fee, to safeguard against stolen vehicles being sold onto unknowing people....I just can't actually see it working in the long run..time and tide I spose.
This is a very unusual request but I am hoping that all avenues can be used.
I am searching for my son, he is 19 years old now and was living in the Rushden/Wellingborough/Burton Latimer area in 1989 when I left the area to return to the Island.
It is vitally important I find him, not to drag...
