I have just fitted a CAT replacement pipe to my car but there was an earth strap bolted to the cover on the CAT.

Does anyone know what this is for?

P.S. The car feels loads better without the Cat, and sounds Better too!

Still unsure

see, I would have thought that there was sufficient grounding via the manifold/head, has anyone else fitted a Cat replacement?

Also does anybody know if i need the Cat on for MOT, someone told me that if your car is not a UK model then it may not be on the MOT stations "database", and so doesn't need one. This is apparently true for the Fairlady(300zx)

???

Same info I got, also if <'96 cat not required, but keep it handy just in case you get a jobsworth doing the test.

Sorry to dissapoint guys but the law say's all cars registered after 01 jan 93 must have a cat fitted. But I do agree that someone who doesn't look too hard or doesn't know the car type may overlook it anyway. Most people who run a cat replacement pipe keep the cat to fit for the test only, thats what I'm planning to do.
