Engine swap! RB25DET

887 Views 26 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Spence
I have read through old posts but unable to find out what i am looking for!

I have a R33 4 door RB25DE with auto box! I will keep the auto for now and have got my self a RB25DET engine complete with turbo! I am guessing it comes with the ecu!!!!!!!!

Will this go straight in and work with the ecu changed as i believe the wiring loom is the same? And is there any other problems i am going to encounter?

I would appreciate any help on this as i have no idea! LOL

I don't think the wiring loom will work otherwise when you do 25det conversions on R32's you could just use the gts25 loom but u can't! Best to use the matching loom and ECU.
The engine will bolt straight in just transfer your mounts unless it has some already.
There are quite a few threads with 25det's into r32's but none on r33 and the wiring looms etc!

Someone must have done a r33????
Has no one done this conversion before?
Not done it before but I do not see why you can not just drop it in and plug the turbo ecu in. I assume its a DOHC RB25DE with VVT?

Haven't looked at mine and i don't which one is coming! Mine is a 93! So if mine is a non VVT and the one that's coming is a VVT what would be the issues??

Thanks for the reply!
No not too much of a issue as you can just run a wire from the ecu into the engine bay. You will not have the boost solonoid wiring but again not a problem as you can just use a boost controler or bleed valve to up the boost a little.

Well once everything is done i want to re map the standard ecu with you! So if you can give me some telephone advice i would be most greatful!
We could do the conversion for you if your not 100% sure for about £550 plus fluids.

Or we can give as much advise as you need within reason :)

I have labour sorted but there will be some finishing questions or straight forward and no questions! LOL! But i will need it remaped at some point!
i put a turbo on my r33 rb25de there was no prob with wiring but never looked for standard boost controller wires but as rsp said you don't need them,is your det out of an auto because the bearing in the crank is different on a manual, exhaust elbow+downpipe ,boost gauge, intercooler+piping and if you have a type s na with standard exhaust you'll need to wedge open the dual stage silencer

We have pm'ed a few times about turboing a N/A! I went down the road of an engine replacement!

Are you trying to say i am going to have a load of problems?
no, its just a list of things i can remember you'll need if you haven't already got them, only trying to help and didn't mean to offend

All help is appreciated!!

Just wanna know if i put this lump in if it is from a manual is it going to work?? and weather there is any other problems to come?
if its from a manual the bearing on the flywheel side where the gearbox shaft goes in is different you need to change it the gearbox shafts are a different diameter

Haha the spigot bearing is not a big deal mate, it is pretty much a small brass cylinder worth pennies!

Here is a thread with ideas of how to remove it

and the Nissan FAST part number for the manual one is 32202 - 7F401
