Finally got round to fitting the 'speakers (well, one side at least). :D

Now I know there's no problems with mounting depth I can get on and make the wooden mounting (see Part 1) for the nearside too.

I fixed the crossover behind the door metal work using heavy duty velcro (arrowed) - there isn't a lot of room for this, hence this slightly sub-ideal solution:

Wooden mounting screwed in with 6mm wood screws (standard screws aren't long enough to fix the 12mm MDF without heavily countersinking them and loosing a lot of strength):

Woofer fitted:

Final (almost) shot - yes, I know I've got to sort a grill out to cover the gaping hole!

When fitting this I found that not only had the previous owner(s) fitted co-ax 'speakers just in the door card, he'd got them out of phase (at least to the wire colour codes I found online). I had a feeling this was the case after fitting some decent ones in the rear. :screwy:

lol, that's a knee-rest - looks like a factory-fit option. :gay:

It's glued and screwed in, there's no way it's coming off. I know, as I tried - I'm over 6'4" and it gets in the way. :Uzi:
