Gt350 ecu?

Would anybody know if the JDM ECU is the same as the USDM ECU?
I am pretty sure that the CAN-bus system is the same, trying to find out if any of the ROM rewriter's out there will interface, Cobb are not sure, as they think the ECU is different, but i would have thought that if the CAN-bus is the same then the interface should work?

Our 'new forum mod' was looking into getting details on a reflash but it's all gone a bit quiet
They are the 2 tuners in the UK which can map 350's with Uprev software. I'm sure one of them will be able to answer your question

Thanks, i have already looked into the Uprev unit on the JDM 350Z, will check about the 350GT.

I am more interested in the Cobb tuning product, as it seems to be more suitable, as i am interested in doing the mapping myself.

Give me a day or two Ricky as we are getting a trader on board that can hack our ecu's and has extensive knowledge about them. I cant put their name up until they have become a trader on the site.

Sounds interesting, is it likely to be a user interface system of just a pay per flash system, as i said i am not really interested in the latter.
Rising sun are also in the process of writing their own software for the 350GT. once done they will be able to do a proper stage 1 remap. that is what i am waiting for.
I was on to cobb tuning about a year ago and they were sure that the accessport wouldn't work with a JDM ecu.

I had a big problem with my idle adjustment where my TT set up needed to idle at 990 revs which was controlled by my Haltech system however the part of the stock ecu which controlled the Dash, VDC etc etc was trying to keep the revs at a stock 750 revs. Nobody including nissan said it would be possible to change the stock setting but this company had a box of tricks that did and sorted my problem out. They can do a lot of things including opening our throttles through each gear as Nissan have set them at only 70% and this makes the car far more lively through the first 3 gears.
I will leave all the tech stuff for them to post on here.

BTW apart from this they have worked on a lot of 350z's over a lot of years and infact race them. They can offer a re-flash with the uprev system to achieve a re-tune which really should be done anyhow after fitting an after market exhaust, induction system etc to get the best out of them.
This system can also remove speed limiters.

Rising sun is way out of my area so i dont know what work they have done with the VQ before however i will invite them to start a thread here informing us of what they are able to offer us.

Thought the Haltech was stand alone, not piggyback?
There is a device to cure the factory slow/and not fully opening throttle available on ebay, the 350Z guys use them.
As i said i am looking for something i can map myself, but i don't want the expense of going stand alone as its not worth it unless your going FI or fitting throttle bodies.

Yeah it is stand alone but you cant fully remove the stock ecu because it controls other systems apart from the engine mapping. It just so happens the idle control is on one of these systems which is why even though you set the haltech at 990 part of the stock ecu is trying to get control of the idle back and so it idles up and down.

This isnt a stand alone system they have, they retune the stock ecu.

Osiris Standard includes Cipher and utilizes the Cipher cable to reflash and communicate with the vehicle through the OBDII Diag Port. Osiris Standard also includes Map Switching allowing you to use different tunes for different situations and 3 eTune updates you can use at any time.

Osiris Standard is a licensed based system meaning your license will be transferred to the first ECU that is flashed. This vehicle can then be flashed as many times as the user wants, but the flash will not work on any different vehicles. One additional license can be purchased at a discount for enthusiasts that may have more than one vehicle, contact us for details.

Parameters that we will tune include:

Up to 5 Maps on cruise control equipped vehicle
Idle RPM
Speed Limiter
Electronic Throttle Control to achieve Wide Open Throttle at all speeds.
Rev Limiter
DTC disable
AFR Targets Fuel Compensation Ignition Timing Advance Cam Phasing for equipped vehicles.
Osiris Tuner
The Osiris Tuner system includes Cipher, Map Switching, the flash utility and our powerful, new 2.0 ROM Editor. Osiris Tuner supports NA applications and high horse power forced induction vehicles. Using the an HPX MAF and 1000cc injectors we have tuned for over 550whp on the G35.

Osiris Tuner is a licensed based system. The purchase of Osiris Tuner includes one license that will be transferred to the first ECU that is flashed. This vehicle can then be flashed as many times as the user wants, but the flash will not work on any different vehicles. Here is some info.

I was told the same!
so tOM. I HAVENT HAD ANYTHING REFLASHED SINCE ADDING THE INDUCTION KIT, PLENNUM SPACER AND THE DUAL EXHAUST. WOULD I BENEFIT FROM THIS? if so can you send me info and price? cheers mate.

Yes paul you would need a reflash after your bolt ons for best results.
Even though our ECU self learns it is more to allow small changes for parts wearing down, when you make big changes to airflow be it exhaust or intake then you really need to reflash IMO.

Have a read of these and see what you think.

This is also a good write up which will help you understand the benefits.

http://www.importtuner.com/tech/0807_impp_ecu_reflash/index.html

I was told by the company who are to become traders on here that they will be charging around £330 approx for a reflash but this will also include a custom map to your stock ECU and will be a do why you wait service.
They also told me because all there work has been with 350z's they will give a special price for the first stock manual and first auto 350gt but they will need the cars for a day as they need to download the ECU's of each and they will use this for all future tunes.
My car could not be a donor as its far from stock and is run by a haltech system.

Hope this helps but im sure once on board they can awnser any questions.

that all looks very interesting. the second write up is very good. really does look like something i would be doing as soon as. look forward to seeing the guys on here and getting the car to them. shame i havent got a stock car any more or wouldnt mind being the first auto! do we know roughly how long it will take to get them on board??

.
I see, i know the OBD-2/CAN-bus is pretty much tied into everything on the 350GT, i think more so than the 350Z.

I have looked into the Uprev Osiris and it looks good, especially for those that just want a quick remap to suite mods.

But i would prefer the Cobb system if it can work on JDM cars, as its more end user friendly, and has a few more features, trouble is finding somebody who knows for sure if the JDM system/ECU is the same as USDM.

As far as i am aware terms have been agreed and keith has sent them the paperwork, it just depends how long they take to return it. I sent them an email today to let them know we are chomping on the bit LOL. I have also invited Richard at Rising sun performance, who already is a trader, to come to this area and let us know what they have to offer in regards to the VQ.
Tom
cheers Tom for sorting all this out. BTW, the car goes into the body shop tomorrow. new front end, side skirts, rear spats and carbon diffuser, as well as paint and good polish. the wheels are being redone slightly differently as well. quite a transformation. cant wait for the results ha ha
Anyone tried Emanage ultimate on the 350GT?
Or should i start a new thread?
