ME and this guy i know have basically been bickering about our cars since we both decided to get them. I AM importing a GTR32. (Should be here in about 2 weeks.) He has a 92 FD3S from Japan. He says his car is faster than mine. I think the dude is on Crack. There both stock, though now im unsure. He says the RX7 has the same deal to were they brought up the HP form 255 to 309..I again think he is on some sort of drugs. He also told me his car is 11 second quarter mile..STOCK. I'm just curious if you guys have gone up against other RX7's and know if the GTR should destroy it. Or not. Either way thanks for the advice..im just looking to see if this guy has truth in his words or if he is just yanking my chain.

If your Gtr is stock, he could be right. Whip it up to Abbey and get them to do a stage 1 on it.
As for 11 sec quarters, dream on.

i think the gtr would win as its alot easier to get off the line and that plays a big part in drag racing but on the road i still think you would have the edge but it will be small.

Yeah, the dude is just taken a piss IMO. Im sure he is wrong about his horsepower being actually at 309, stock unless someone actually knows. *shrug* i guess next time he says something ill tell him to put up.

92 FD3S will be running 255 stock. As standard, it's looking at mid to high 13s 1/4 miles. I pulled a 14 flat with boosting issues.

The GTR will be quicker of the mark for sure, and may win the 1/4 race.... but the RX7 will have a higher terminal speed ;)

On the track, I'd take the RX7 over any GTR. You can stick all the fancy gadgets you like on a car, but it can't change the laws of physics!!

I would have thought the skyline would win if the rex is 255ps.

Wern't the later RX7's 280ps ??

RX7 Type R or something. http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_1962/article.html

Would have thought a 1320kg car with 280ps could keep up with a skyline, maybe even beat it in a straight line.

rx7
Engines: 1.3 rotary turbo 255 bhp @ 7000 rpm, 220 lb-ft @ 5000 rpm.
Performance: 1.3t/255: 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, 1/4 mile in 14.0 seconds @ 100 mph.

thats the info on a rx7 from the shop so 1/4 mile in a 11s hmmm might be able to depands how many mods he has under his hood
just give him a race and see what happens

My opinion is a GTR should walk all over a RX7(stock for stock) and thats what its designed to do, out perform sports cars.

Some snippets from skyline motorsport history from the book SKYLINE THE ULTIMATE JAPANESE SUPERCAR.
nissan skyline born 1955
first gtr 1969
Won its first race in japan and 50 consecutive races over 2 years and ten months.
No GTR until 1989 it achieved 8mins and 20 seconds at nurburgring a lap record for a road going car beating porsche 944 by 20secs (record holder)
It went on to dominate japanese group A touring cars and the V for victory spec was born.
GTR won nurburgring 24hr (group n)
Won Spa 24hr (group a and n) 1st 2nd and 3rd GTR finishes
Dominated australian touring car champinship in 1991 it had to be restricted and ballast added to make the other cars competitive.
R33 GTR won pikes peak hill climb in 1999 setting a new record ahead of subaru impreza and five times winner driving a Porsche turbo s.
R33 GTR did race le mans in 95 finishing 10th overall and 3rd in the gt2 category.

The RX7 didnt win Le Mans - you mean the legendary Mazda 787B with its monster quad rotor engine (driven by Johnny Herbert & others to victory in 1991). The Le Mans GTR's were nothing like the street cars - IIRC they were RWD with huge wide bodywork to homologate it for racing in the GT2 category.

GTR's are phenomenal cars but the RX7 is also one hell of a car! The performance is a very good match as they are considerably lighter and on a tight narrow circuit that demands agility they would walk away from a GTR. I nearly bought one instead of my GTS-t! There were a few things that put me off. For instance the engine is odd and the fact I would have to farm the car out quite a distance to a rotary specialist if something went wrong. That and they sound pants to an RB at full chat :D.

Unless it is a 787B quad rotor (Very near to F1 sound!!!!):drool:
