I thought about doing this until I remembered I have tried to laquer polished aluminium before & it didn't come out right then. the laquer is not clear like water it is opaque & it is easy to get air trapped in the coat.

I bet you have a dull finish now more like brushed stainless steal. I hate to say it but if you want polished rims you will have to have it removed again.

it maybe that its just a dull finish on the laquer. Try some farecla G3 or G10 rubbing compound on them. G10 is finer. this will get some more shine on them.

Q. Did you clean the alloy with thinners before you laquered them?? As it will not stick if there's any polish even the tinniest bit on the rims.
