hi all, im going to change my water pump tomorrow as mine was bent, but i brought a used one for now, but it never came with a gasket, what can i use as a gasket?
i dont want to just use some think that might work as its a mission to sort it out.
any experianced people got any idears?

Hi
You use liquid gasket put round water pump
Just tighten up bolts finger tight leave to set for 2 hours
There are tightening torque m6 6.3-8.3 n-m
m8 16-21 n-m
m10 31.4-42.1

Make sure the water pump is flat not bowed
And clean mating flange and engine block

Go to Motor factors and get a couple of sheets of gasket paper
it only about 50p a sheet. Use your water pump as a template.
place the gasket paper over the water pump and use a small toffee
hammer or a 1/2 drive extension and chap round the water pump
to create a gasket its quite easy then use a ball bearing or small
socket to make the bolt holes, get a couple of sheets just in case
you make an arse of it! use a smear of instant gasket just to make sure.
I make gaskets pretty often and once you get in to the way of it
it dead easy. just take your time and you shouldnt have any problems.

There is a proper sealer which nissan recommend, thats what i used also for the sump etc. It is expensive at £25 for a small tube but it is very very good.

gasket paper if you can get it and a thin smear/wipe of sealant before you install (cheap stuff will be fine)

wow i did it, lucky too as i fiited a new cambelt while i was there and the ex-cam was out 3 teeth!!!
all sorted now sounds loads rev-ier and revs drop loads quicker!!
