right i have the rb20e...its standard..its just got backbox on...i want the straight six sound to be louder...dnt av much cash..wanted to knw on standard exhaust how many silencers there are without including decat n backbox? And would i have any issues with removing silencer? Would it make noticeble effect on standard exhaust and how would it affect fuel consumption n power? Also is there any issues decatting it?..

plus decat will be done on standard exhaust dnt knw if that a good idea..does it have any sensors in?

the only issue I can see is loosing a bit of back pressure so you may lose some power and torque.
Don't go too big, I put basically a straight through on My VR6 and it moved the power within the rev range to further up, I sounded mental though,
A decat would make it louder, :)

i have no silencers in mine and to be honest it hasnt lost any power, i do still have a cat on for back pressure, the cat has the exhaust temp sensor in it but if you buy a decat they usually have a hole for that but you dont actually need it. i got a j performance exhaust off ebay and its spot on sounds awesome

If you just decat, it should make it a fair bit louder, but i very much doubt if you will loose any power with the std exhaust , in fact you might achieve a slight gain, it only when you start changing the diameter of the pipework that you can run into problems, like loosing midrange torque etc, back pressure is a bit of a myth, people mistakenly call it back-pressure, but its actually known a reversion pulse tuning, its more to do with size and length and shape of pipework.

my RB20e exhaust rotted through and needed replacing,i know your looking for sound etc but i just wanted a factory exhaust fitted and i know how rare finding a 20e exhaust would be so i went for a secondhand standard factory fitted exhaust from the cat back from a 2.5 gtst model which has wider piping than the RB20e piping and the car performs the same with no loss of power etc...not sure how a system with wider piping would perform with a decat and less silencers though...
