Hey anyone ever have their hks evc 3 (button only version) just die on them? Any tips other than just chunking it, and buying a new one to look out for? I took it apart and I didn’t find any burns or loose wires or solder spots. I put 12v to it won’t power on. Also power and ground is good on cars end. Is there a shop that will repair these other than hks or is it just a paper weight now?

how did you test ground? power probe? test light? if you used a power probe it'll show you a present ground but show you if the ground is good. I.E if the ground can carry current.

but if you have both power and ground and the unit wont power up youd most likely have to send to HKS. 99.99% of shops wont tear them apart and do repairs. i would contact HKS and see if there an availble warranty. Partial or Full. i know its older so might be short on luck but doesnt hurt to ask.

Haha no warranty man hks Evc 3 is probably over 20 years past manufacture warranty. I used a digital multimeter. Then took the device apart attached it to a 12v ac adapter and powered it the device did not turn on.well the device did get power but the screen is fried. My conclusion is it’s junk, and I ordered a new one.
