hi there, im worried bout my oil pressure ( gauge) it gives me different readding now an again on choke it goes just uinder 8 but when warm on idle it goes to near 1 or lower but at 70mph it goes to around 4 and then sumtime its under 4 so im hoping its a knackered gauge or sender so im gonna get a after market gauge to see what we dealing with then take it from there, so what gauge do u ppl recomend not wanting to spend bit money seen a aem gauge for £150 what gauges have you used ? many thanx stoz

This is taken from the workshop manual with the engine oil warm.

oil pressure is often at the max on the gauge when cold thats not a problem , Its what it reads when warm you need to worry about. It looks to me as if your oil pressure is about right tbh.

the standard oil pressure gauge is notorious for giving false readings mate just buy an aftermarket one at around 50 quid if you wish and go from there :)

sender is prolly knackered, thats a common fault (if you need one i have one clogging up me shed)

defi is pretty popular
prosport and autogauge are good afaik and cheaper
i've had apexi , autometer and greddy gauges all great stuff

cheers ppl, i will get a gauge and take it from there if i get one wil it come with a sender aswell if mine playing up ? my cam belt u due in the next 1000 mile or so is it worth while putting a new oil pump in aswell ? many thanx stoz
