I love newbies......

It sounds like you have an aftermarket BOV (Blow off valve) these tend to make the car stall at idle, hense you needing to keep the revs up when at low revs.

The whistle noise is the BOV doing it's thing, nothing to be worried about.

As for the burning smell.....well that may just be because the turbo has got so hot, without looking I can't make a 100% factual comment on that.

Welcome to the Forum!

The whistling is one of my favourite parts, so don't worry about that!

The burning smell would be more of a concern but, again, without actually seeing the car it would be hard to comment.

I'd recommend getting it checked at a garage, just to be on the safe side - it's what I'd do in the same circumstances.

Just wait until you get it in the wet. It's almost caught me out twice. Exciting stuff, but spare underwear moments like mine are definitely not recommended :)

welcome, and of course YAY - -- - I AM NOT THE NEW BOY ANY MORE

I would get the whole car looked at by a proper specialist - just given a complete once over so you know where you are. I will be doing that with mine as soon as I am able to actually walk more than 20 yards - back still playing up

As already mentioned, he stalling is your dump valve, it'll be an aftermarket one dumping to atmosphere so you hear a pshhhhhhhhhhh noise when coming off boost but the ECU thinks this air is being recirculated into your inlet rather than being dumped to atmosphere so adds fuel for itso you've got petrol but no air, hence stalling.

Either live with it or fit an aftermarket recirculating dump valve, there not too expensive.

The whining could be a couple of things, hopefully it's an induction kit, my HKS one makes a loud suction noise, I sometimes worry incase it's gonna suck grannies and small children children into my bonnet.

Or it could be coming from your turbo which (and this is what you don't want) could be on it's way out and need overhauled, the turbo on my wifes 200SX used to whistle when on boost when it was in need of an overhaul.

Change your oil regularly, I do mine every 4000 - 5000 miles max, this is good for your turbo, you don't want old dirty oil in those bearings.

The best thing to do is take it to someone who knows about Skylines and gt them to give it the once over, it'll be money well spent and give you piece of mind.

Hope this helps:cheers:

If you mean a sort of chirping noise (like crickets under your bonnet) - then the chances are its your clutch release bearing.
