If you find a reputable exporter, you can save a lot of money. I bought my R32 GT-R from Japan Partner in the end of November, shipped it in December, landed 30th of January, and I've had it federally cleared and state titled since beginning of February. I'm not a broker, just did my research on what forms to bring to customs. my build and pictures can be seen on my local ad at the following link.
Sell or Trade $30,000 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R 80,000 miles LEGIT TITLED AND REGISTERED $30,000

Keep in mind, you'll probably want an importer located in the US that will actually do the US paperwork for you, not just source and ship you the car. Finding the car is only half the battle. Dealing with customs, etc is a nightmare if you don't have the proper paperwork well in advance and it's not a very straightforward process.

It depends. If you have the stomach for paperwork and can find a decent customs broker to clear the vehicle through US port authority and CBP, then you can save a few grand over using a full-service US importer such as Rivsu or Japanese Classics. But you do have to pay for everything in cash including the broker fees, THD (port) fees, customs duties, etc.

best one ive seen and the one i used was rightdriveusa.com /rightdrive.ca theyvare based in both canada and u.s., have great quality cars, and no paperwork needed they do absolutely everything for you. not only that but car goes through a 100 pt inspection and gets a full tune up before leaving them so you know it will be reliable. also comes with a warranty as well which will make you feel nice and cozy inside. all that, and i still saved over 5k in comparison to cars listed on rivsu and nostalgia imports based solely in the u.s.

feastauto is also very good he was helping me find a car for a little while. great guy, loads of knowledge, and he can get nice gtrs even cheaper than rightdrive if you dont care about the extra warranty and servicing stuff. both great companies

I've used Feast Auto a couple of times for parts, most recently a Grex oil relacator and cooler system. Great prices and fast delivery :)

imho i think that GT-R Garage is probably the best one. I got my HCR32 through them and the customer service and everything was perfect! That as the packet that you get with all the paperwork is very professional. My skyline was missing a couple parts like the rear spats and they were willing to ship new ones to me. I've contacted other importers and I got shitty service and no call backs, email replys nothing.

I heartily second this.

Purchased mine from Auto Obsess in AL. Straight forward no BS and provides all import docs along with title. It cost me a plane ride out, but I wouldn't by a car sight unseen anyway. They had 2 in the garage when I purchased mine.

One brother lives in Canada getting locally or importing from Japan while the other sells in the states. Let me know if anyone needs more info I have direct contact info for them, tell them Chad sent you.
