As stated what are the pros & cons of AFM based ECUs & MAP sensor based ECUs?

I have put a RB25 with a few mods in my R32 & am currently deciding what ECU I want to go with...
I am mainly looking at either an Apexi Power FC or a Haltech unit.

While the Power FC is cheaper, I will still need to purchase a Z32 AFM & EBC,
while with the Haltech it uses a MAP sensor (so no more AFM) & has inbuilt closed-loop boost control.
The Haltech is more expensive but by the time I buy the extra parts for the PFC I will be getting close to spending the same money...

The Power FC can control your boost too. There is a boost control kit available for it. I would always prefer an external boost controler though personally.

MAP all the way, 'can' be far more accurate. no longer have problems with vent to atmosphere valves. less restriction pre turbo. less chance of incorrect readings due to dirt/.oil. on and on. i would say go haltech, and as for boost control. get a profec b II its a great boost controller

I have a r33 running with a Vipec plug in ecu which does the boost control also. Car runs like a dream, they are expensive though.

Haltechs also have closed loop lambda control and also EGT fuel correction, for usually 1/2 the price of Motec.
