! as per the title..

last week i tuned an all stock spec1 rb25 with PFC and FMIC and usual breathing mods..

last night we were out and about... this guy races a "367bhp tuner tuned" car..

both cars are idnetical, full interior etc etc..

now with my reckoning a stock turbo will make about 320 if you push it hard.. (real power not special magic dyno customer pleaser numbers)

and guess what?? dead match.. not a bean in it.

so tuners... can we stop filling people up with donkey horsepower figures please..

or im going to start telling everyone we can get 360hp out of a stock turbo..!!!

tut tut.. ashamed of some of you!

You always get it Martin, it's human nature mate, Mines bigger than yours.... etc etc
My fiesta xr2t We live mapped and it never went near a rolling road but I know it was dam quick though :D
Personally I'm sure having a genuinely quick car is better than a graph or "hear say" :)

It's been a LONG time since I had a 'stock' turbo, however....
I just sold AndyB's ex. car and it was always quicker than E46 M3's and it's an auto.....
Running 12PSI and some other nice mods.
BMW claim 343bhp for that M3, so I'd guess his R33 4 door auto was at least 350bhp.
Please tell me where my maths is wrong?

The M3 weighs more than an R33 so it would need more power to get the same performance wouldn't it?

i have seen one gtst dyno'd at two independent dyno's and got the same result of 333 bhp on a stock turbo at 0.8 bar,you cant say two totally different dyno/tuners are collaborating together just to give the same result

An E46 M3 weighs more than a 4 door auto R33?
Not on your life does it.
wikipedia says M3 is heavier than r33 but does not list r33 4-door auto that I suspect is the heaviest gts variant, I still doubt it, there VERY close at least.

E46 m3s are about 250 kg more than a gtst and i really doubt a 4 door one would weigh 250kg more than a 2 door

I currently own both 4 and 2 door r33gtst's and the coupe feels heavier to drive for definate. both have identical mods but the coupe feels much quicker. how does that work then lol?

By the way Andy i picked up those Nismo's this morning. Cheers.

Claimed power always varies from actual power. Even the temperature on that particular day will affect the power output. Altitude and humidity can play a role... I normally base my feeling of how quick a car is on how it feels to be in the car. Ohh, and who crosses the line first is always a tell tale sign. (some) People will inevitably chase a particular bhp figure that they would like to make but I firmly believe these bhp figures should be used as an indication rather than a result. Just my humble opinion anyway...now, how much was that 500bhp kit again.... :)

thing is if thats 2 Dyno dynamics then thats accurate but its still a flywheel hp guess..

we need to start talking WHP in this country.

i know that the other week i did a fiesta xr2 with a zetec turbo motor in with an ebay turbo afterwards the guy had it hub dynod in brum and it made 304 at the wheels.. no wonder it felt mental.

Agreed! To much bullcrap with conversions etc. I think a Hub dyno is the most accurate of the lot!

Who's got a hub dyno in brum?

I know MGT Racing and Thor have one but they are not in Brum. Close to Brum but not in Brum!

Don't forget torque will play a massive factor on how quick a car is

I always work along the lines of "build torque let horsepower look after itself"
When i have had my car dynoed in the past i have always asked for a printout of at the wheels as well as the std fly printout.
One is good for the pub but its always nice to see what you really have :)
