just had a look! thats brill mate and with loads of helpfull pics we like pics.
I want to fit the same kit for the same reason do you mind telling me how much you paid for the full kit mate?
Rob, could you give us a ring on 0845 86 92 555 ASAP please?
It looks like the brackets aren't fitted right in your pictures and that needs resolving sharpish as the car may be dangerous to drive like that
yeah no worries mate. won't be driving the car for a month or 2 as i'm in the middle of a rebuild. post a pic up and i'll see where it's gone wrong
righto, basically the brackets are made so they held onto the subframe with 2 bolts.
One bolt attaches the bracket to the original mounting point for the HICAS rack.
The other, longer bolt that holds the balljoint into the bracket also goes through an existing hole in the subframe and holds the bracket secure. If you only use 1 bolt to hold the bracket on, it will flap about and dynamically change your alignment, which is never ideal....
I've highlighted the bolt and the hole it should have gone through on these 2 pics of yours here:
You can see how the brackets are supposed to sit in this pic here:
Hope that helps, just let us know if you're not sure still.
ah i see - easy to go wrong without any instructions. cheers for the info! i'll get that changed and amend the faq thread so others don't make the same mistake
Didn't see your post at the end here Tross mate. I've deleted the post for the moment and pm'd your text to you so you don't lose all the work. Please stick it back up revised because its a good write up
yeah, your rear toe will need setting, but this is a simple tracking job most garages can do. Alternatively, you can do it yourself easily with a tape measure if you take some measurements before you start the job.
depends how you look at it - they were easy to remove if you've got a proper press. if you haven't you're gonna be in trouble, it took 11 tons of pressure in the press before mine came out!
also it's worth pointing out that of the 4 silver bolts you get with the kit 2 are long and 2 are shorter. the shorter ones bolt the bars on to the hub, and the longer ones bolt the bars and bracket to the subframe. the 2 gold bolts bolt the brackets where the original rear steering rack is bolted.
i went down the workshop tonight to have a look at where i'd gone wrong and noticed the bolts were different lengths - you don't want to get one side bolted up only to have to muck about with the suspension strut again!
