The next GT-R series (C110) was released in 1972 and was available as a coupe and a 4-door sedan and featured the same S20, triple -carbureted DOHC six as the previous GT-R bearing a 160hp 2.0L motor . Optional spoilers and wind screens were still available.
In 1973, the hardtop version arrived. The 1973 model had black flared arches, and a different grille. As with previous GT-R models, it used the same S20 motor and independent rear suspension. This model of GT-R is also known as the "Ken-Mary" GT-R since its catchphrase was "Ken and Mary's GT-R" as a result of Japanese commercials showing a young couple (Ken and Mary) who relaxed and enjoyed the countryside with their Skyline. Only 197 of these models were produced and none were officially exported outside of Japan. Rumor has it that the KPGC-110s were only produced in order to allow Nissan to use up the leftover engines from the KPGC-10 series. Nissan did not race with this version of the GT-R.
