Continuing on from last week......

On both Saturday and Sunday I was at Thoresby Hall. Quite a few of you will have been there for the JAPS show in June. It was a completely different venue from the week before (an airfield).
The first difference was that it was quite damp when I got there and during the day it got wetter. Quite a bit of the course was under trees so it was unlikely to dry in a hurry (especially when there were torrential downpours!).
It is very hard to describe the course, but in places it was not much wider than my car and it was very slippy but oddly it was more or less the same in the wet or dry for me.....
6000 revs, dump the clutch. Just after 2nd gear hard brake, down to 1st  and then sharp to the right, up to 3rd gear, hard brake, 1st gear again and hard right again, just into second and back to 1st for the first chicane up to 3rd on the first straight, before 1st gear chicane again for the second chicane. Up to 3rd gear again before the final tight left in first gear again  before the tail wagging sprint to the finish, just getting into 3rd.
Quite obviously not very suitable for my car. Back end end under braking for each 1st gear turn and then out again when accelerating in first gear. Very frantic but also very exciting.
On Saturday I was up against 9 other cars, mostly reliant scimitars but there was a rwd 280 bhp cossie, the TVR 350 from last weekend and my mate Jeff in his EVO 5 RS. Jeff was far faster than anyone else, and if I remember rightly ran 2nd fastest time of the day of any class. This left me to fight with the cossie and TVR (see pic above). The cossie really struggled in the wet and the TVR beat me which I have to respect as his car was more of a handful then mine! There were a lot of trees and hay bales to hit so my best time of 56 seconds was quite pleasing. Third place got me the crystal glass above (Talisker was not included!).
Sunday was dry and sunny all day but slippy at first. As the day progressed I got quicker but the car was just as tail happy! I only had the TVR and Cossie against me and the lack of entrants meant that there would only be an award for 1st place. First practice of the day, I was fastest. 2nd practice, the TVR. 1st proper run, I was fastest again as the TVR driver made a big mistake at the last bend. I ran 52.88 even though I messed up a 2nd to 3rd gear change and lost valuable time. 2nd run the TVR went into the 50's which I was not going to beat. Lst run was slightly slower so I came second in class but happy with my improvements.
So a third and a second. I have really enjoyed it and will be doing a lot more rounds next year.
One last thing. I watched a short video that my brother took and had to smile when the commentator announced the arrival of the "Nissan Skyline - flame spitting monster" :smoker:

Cheers Pete. That was the final round of the championship for me but I am hoping to do at least 8 rounds next year starting in April. I will put at sprint calendar on my website next year, highlighting any rounds I do.
I have tried to not make too much noise about the dates as I was waiting to see how I do. I am better than I expected but quite off the 'first place' pace at the moment.

I would also love to see the video. Nice one dave!!
The video quality is quite poor so I did not take a copy. If anyone has software that will enhance it, let me know and I will get my brother to email to you and then when inproved , I will upload it.

Sounds like a good crack! Just out of interest, what power are you running?
The announcer says it on the video! 400bhp at hubs, 500bhp at flywheel @ 1.2 bar boost (17psi?). Just what you need in the wet in 1st gear
And I did not turn the boost down all weekend :smoker:
