Eh up,

I seem to be the only poor bugger here with a non turbo. Still I have got used to the extra power and now want more.

I have spoken to a local tuning company "Van Aiken" and they said there is not alot they can do bar whaking a turbo on at a cost of about 2-3k (not worth it).

They said they could fit a Blitz ECU at a cost of £750 for an extra 8-10 horses (again bit expensive)

Where could I go after this route: (bit of cutting and pasting from previous thread)

Downpipes, Either HKS or TRUST
Decat pipe - Sumo
Exhaust cat back - HKS HIPER MUFFLER or SDII
Induction kit - HKS Direct Drive kit,
Spark Plugs - HKS Iridium Racing PRO
Twin Power Ignition Amplifier - HKS

Cars a RB25DE, any advice extra options would be great

here's the full specshttp://www.skylinesdownunder.com/tech/r32/index.html

times 142kw by 1.341 ish to get bhp (power) >190ish
divide 231Nm by 1.38273 ish to get ft lb (torque) >167ish
1320kg

with N/A once exhaust and intake are breathing nicely, ecu and camshafts are the next big steps, tho giving the intake components (throttle body etc) a good clean and reseting the stock ecu wont do any harm

Ahh poohp

Just spoke to Abbey and he said Exhast, Filter would give about 5bhp, then there's not much you could do.

How much would new cams cost and what would the estimated power increase be??

Anyone got any other ideas, I feel all deflated now.

HKS do cams for RB25DET and RB20DET but you'd need to check if these were ok for your RB25DE, their listed on www.perfectrun.com.au ~£300 + freight each and you'll need two, they can give ~10% power increase depending on duration and lift but you would need the timing tweeked to release that power, I think "mr r32" Ron at RKtuning 02083484218 has some experience of this...

you need a shot of NOS fairly cheap but very effective:)

Agreed - you could probably use a 50bhp wet NOS kit fairly reliably.

The NOS gets a bit expensive though if you use it all the time.

Not sure but I think you may have to lose your cat as well - sure I remember reading somewhere that they don't like NOS but could be wrong.

Ahh NOS.... But doesn't it put a huge stain on the engine??

Is it relativley safe to use a 50hp shot occasionally?? or would you advise against it.

It puts more strain on an engine than not having it, just like a turbo does. All the RB engines seem pretty strong though, and a 50hp shot is going to take you to roughly then same power as an RB25DET in standard tune.

Best bet would probably be to ask one of the skyline specialists what they would recommend and if you do go for it then to get a system from a really good NOS specialist - the last thing you want is a badly setup system giving you lots of NOS without enough extra fuel and melting yer pistons.

Im in the same boat sir but i thot a filter and exhaust would give a bit more than 5bhp???

Unless one thing i wondered.... Do u have a backbox or system on yer yoke??? A system will actually kill the power on an N/A...

1 question i did wonder was would a back box originally for a turbo also kill the back pressure too as it will be more hollow to allow pressure to free easily???

Depends what you want out the the car, ultimately.

My R33 started out as a GTS25, but in a few months time, it will have 650-700 horses under the bonnet.

It will cost, and it won't be easy but can be done.
