Hi All,

Allow me to introduce myself. I am a new member here. Signed up as I am planning to buy a 350GT and be a part of the Skyline fraternity :)

I was initially looking for a 350Z but then decided on 350GT. I thought they were not available in UK. Though I am looking for a Black one but whatever I came across on ebay and auto trader is Silver. I am fine with Silver too, probably I can put a black vinyl on the top and it will go well with the rear tinted glass.

From whatever I have seen, I like 2 cars. One of them is a 6 speed manual with brembos. Nice looking car and well maintained except some chips and some paint blistering in the rear (near the boot). The other one is a standard tiptonic gear box imported recently (so I will be the first owner in UK). Both the cars are 2003 with around 45k Miles. What do you guys recommend? I like the 6 speed one/brembo one but I am worried about the paint chips and blisters. How good is the manual mode of tiptonic compared to full 6 speed manual? Also, any guidance on how much should these normally cost.

I am new to UK and do not have driving history so insurance is really costly for me. Need to keep that in mind too :( . I will be contacting Dan at A-plan but any other pointers for insurance?

Are there any other websites or sources where I can view more cars? I hardly find any 350GTs for sale in UK. A black one somewhere? I stay in Bath, so anything around 100 miles from here would be fine.

Cheers!

Hi and welcome:)
Both gear boxes are good, personal choice really, auto is more common, but from all reports very good, and have the added benefit of not having to worry about replacing the clutch at a later date, i prefer manual but i am sure (well almost) that i could live with an auto.

The Brombo brakes are some of the best i have ever had on any car i have owned, as for the paint blisters, i haven't actually seen any 350GTs with paint problems yet, however i feel it could be easily fixed, and also a good bargaining point.

Things to check other than all the usual checking points for a SH car, are that both electric fans come on when there supposed to, check window motors, and door locks as they are all prone to problems, most in theory an easy fix, also check the rear CV joints, by pulling away with both windows open, to listen for clicks, try reverse too, easy fix but not cheap, but again good bargaining points.

Have you checked on Piston-heads.com, auto trader, and ebay, there are also lots of other car sales sites if you search, good luck, and if you need some feedback on a particular car then post up on here and maybe someone can assist.

Thanks Ricky :)

I will keep these points in mind. Any idea how much would it take to repair the paint blisters. It is about 200mm square patch :( Nice bargaining point but guess I will need to sort it soon.

I checked most of the sites but couldn't find anything. Most of them are on ebay. Any comments on the price of the cars I mentioned in my earlier post?

Also, I am facing a major issue getting a quote for a 350GT. I am new to UK and the car is a Jap import so most of the companies are either quoting something like 5k! or they say that they do not insure someone with less than 2 yrs of driving history in UK :(

I am really into buying a 350GT but somehow things are not falling in place. Quite frustrating.

If you post up a couple of links to the ones on ebay, as there are several silver ones, and one black supercharged, belonging to one of the members here.
There is one with some nice bits on Pistonheads, http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3033143.htm

The trouble with insurance is that the 350GT is a group 20 car to start with, and being an import as well, it just makes things worse, A plan is probably your best bet, but even so i think you will struggle.

I am talking about the following:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2003-NISSAN-3...omobiles_UK&hash=item415b40fa04#ht_500wt_1156
(it says 9k but guess I can get it cheaper coz of blisters and chips)

and the auto one

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-Infini...mobiles_UK&hash=item35b0ff9214#ht_1466wt_1139

Also, another car got listed on Auto trader today. It is a blue one and manual :)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../radius/1500/page/1/postcode/ba15ns?logcode=p

I have not seen the a blue 350Gt in person. Is it nice?

Yeah, the black one which you pointed has some really nice mods but can't afford that.

I am also planning to view
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-350-GT...mobiles_UK&hash=item3369a17d18#ht_1160wt_1139
It is compartively cheap. Wonder why

Hey Dude

I have been looking at skylines for ages now and am going to see one on saturday. Dude Adrian Flux was the one for me. Especially with the position you say you are in with your license. I am now not a fan of Dan the man from A-Plan lol. Although he was very polite he didn't even quote me. But it was a good thing Adrian Flux was the one. Nick is the man for me personally. Now i am on the hunt for my gt 350. Missed out on a Matt Black only just recently. There are loads of Gt350 on ebay dude. I can think of 5 already. Goood mileage too.

Hi,
In the current market 350gts are going relatively cheap to what they were a few years ago.

The most common combination is silver and auto, there is obviously other things to be taken into
consideration such as premium interior (leather\alacantra seats) and other factory fitted options;
reverse camera, auto tilt mirrors, rear spoiler, BOSE sound system etc etc

To give my opinion on the links you have posted;

1) Looks good and obviously has the benefit of being a manual (if thats what you are after) and having
the brembos, cant really see clearly what the interior is like but looks leather? Are there any pictures of
the damage? I still think this is overpriced for a 350gt at the moment....again just my opinion.

2) Second link looks overpriced IMHO for what it is plus it has the standard cloth interior.

3) Personal preference really, however it is manual and a rarer color, once again this only has the standard cloth
interior and a Couple of things I would question although I imagine
its the dealer/system putting it in there accidentially, the 350gt doesnt come with cruise control so unless its an aftermarket kit, also
no electric rear windows and the car is not insurance group 18!!

4) Price wise Id say thats about right at the moment, again has the standard cloth interior but benefits from
relatively low mileage and 1 previous owner so definetely worth a look

All in all it totally depends on your budget, what you can and cant live without (auto/manual/cloth/leather etc)

Good luck with the potential purchase

The first one looks good as does the blue, and being manual with brembos is also a bonus, but like i said its a personal choice, i suspect the blisters on the silver manual started out as chips, but you can't see from the pic, its a little over priced in the current climate, but you should be able to get the price down,

I personally wouldn't touch Magnum motors with a barge pole, had a bad experience with them.

I doubt there is anything seriously wrong with the last one despite its price, its just the commercial climate, but you would be wise to check all i mentioned and more.

Insurance wise you just need to phone as many of the specialist import insures as possible really.

Thank you for the inputs guys.

This first one is good mechanically and nicely maintained except the blisters and few chips. The interiors are leather and it has bose system and all. I guess I can make that guy come down to 7.5. Will that be a nice price for it?

@Ricky: You had a bad experience with Magnum? Can you elaborate on that?

The main issue I am facing is the insurance bit. Either quotes are around 3000 or they are not ready to provide me a quote coz of my non exchangeable international license. I tried Adrian flux, A-plan and Admiral ... no luck :(

I really want to get a 350GT but somehow insurance guys don't want me to.

I would try for 7k on the one with the blisters, are the chips big//very visible, to get the boot lid repaired you are looking at about £300, probably cheaper to try and find an intact boot lid from a breaker.

My problem with magnum motors is basically i phoned and arranged to view a 350Gt with them along with another one nearby, and traveled about 100 miles to view, they then turned around and said i couldn't test drive it unless i was going to buy!!!! well my response was that the where not going to sell a car with that attitude, and walked away.

In any case i had the last laugh, as the 350GT that i saw there was actually on a sale or return basis from an importer i have previously spoke with, so they had it returned to them, i then test drove it and agreed to buy from them at a considerably better price than Magnum had it marked at, would of liked to have driven it up there and told them, just to rub it in LOL!
Bunch of ignorant muppets IMO.

@Ricky: The chips are not really visible from a distance. Even the blisters are not really visible, probably you need to get really close and touch the paint to realize the blistering. But, I believe one should get that sorted as there is high chance of rust developing there.

About Magnum, the same thing happened with me. I called that them and they told me that they are reselling it for some big importer. Do you remember which importer is that? May be I can get in touch with them :) and may be I will have more to choose from.

The importers who i got mine from don't appearer to be in business any more, they where Autoterminal based in Southampton.

Quite frankly i am really surprised that Magnum are still in business with that attitude, FFS who is seriously going to buy a car without a test drive, i just don't get their mentality.

If your happy with the manual one with Brembos and don't have too much problem with the small chips then go for it and try and negotiate the price to reflect the condition, but as said give it a very good check over.

@Dwayne: yes, It is cheaper than others but I am really looking for a 6 speed manual with Brembos. Anyways before I move ahead with any of those I need to sort out my insurance bit. Somehow companies don't wanna insure me or they give me a quote like 3-4K ! So, Saturday is all yours :) Let me know how it goes.

Guys, any idea how good is the blue colour? Is there any one who can help me get some pointers for insurance. I have an non exchangeable UK license, that is what is creating problems :( I will be shattered if my dream of owning a 350GT doesn't turn into reality.
