Hi

I need a new synchro mesh. Probs moving from 4th to 5th. Anyone got any advise on a good local mechanic.

I live in Basingstoke.

Been quoted £450 including parts and labour does that sound reasonable?

Have you tried changing the gearbox oil to redline (not sure what it is?)....

Many people have done that and the notchiness has become smooth???

Yeah give some Redline heavy duty gear shock oil, mine use to crunch badly from 4th-5th and it stopped it completely.

try RSP, I think they might have some but not sure, they are over in Alton so not a million miles away.

You'll need to buy 5litres (well, 5x 1 quart bottles as they're american measurements, but 1 quart is virtually 1 litre)

Opie Oils now supply this.

Thanks for the advise I have ordered some £54 for 5 litres I hope it does the trick and we don't have to go down the repair route.

Mine only ended up taking 4 bottles last night. Checked the level after running it for a while and it was OK, so hopefully all sorted. Taking it on a run this afternoon to LSC-Interiors, should hopefully be able to tell if it's solved the problem for me.
